or is that deviant?
oh well, no matter!
I actually had some time yesterday to read a few blogs, so of course I head over to -e-‘s, where I found quite an interesting little situation going on *s*, now this is always good for killing time on the net, so naturally I went to check it out.
It was about a subject near to my heart/home…so even though most of these blogs I’d never even heard of before (nor they of me I’m sure), I found myself getting sucked into it, disagreeing with people who had no earthly idea who the heck I was, and finding myself explaining that I really DON’T get pissed off that easily!! (I swear, really, I don’t!!)
Now, I’ve always been told I’d argue with a brick wall…and to a point, that’s true, even if I agree with you, I’ll still try to make you look at it from all sides and see that why I believe that, may not be for the same reasons you believe it…that’s just me.
it also brought to mind something else, something I’ve always tried to be true to…I’m not sure who I stole it from, and I know it’s not an exact quote, but I reworded it a bit to fit how I see it…
“I may not agree with you, or what you have to say, but will defend to the death your right to feel/say it”
which is why I don’t understand the way some people act, irl or on-line, especially on-line! if you have a blog with comments, and you bring up a controversial issue (like gay marriage in this instance) you’re going to get some opposing views…not everyone agrees with that, and they’re entitled to that (wrong, IMHO, but entitled! *g*) and while I also agree with the point that comparing it to pedophiles is way off base and not even in the same ballpark, I did read those comments for what they were worth and the point they were trying to make with it.
I still disagree with the whole ‘choice’ issue, I can’t think of one person who would choose to belong to a group, knowing they would be looked down on, not given the same rights and privileges as others, bashed, beaten, and in cases even killed for how they feel. Some have an easier time of ‘coming out’ than others, some (such as myself) stay in there for years, and some stay in there for life, trying to live so called ‘normal’ lives, in spite of their feelings…it’s NOT easy, and all most of us want is the same rights that everyone else takes for granted.
that being said, I’ll step down off the soapbox now…as always comments on your point of view are more than welcome, however, be careful, I WILL try to change your mind if I don’t agree…however, will never edit or delete anything…my skin is not that thin :rofl

Well since I know for a fact you’d agrue something till the cows come home on every avenue *S* ~ Kudoz to you for this post!!!! However, you refrained a great deal on how you really feel *big smile* Stay just as you are ~ you are real ~ that is the most important thing!!! I don’t care if you are gay, straight, black, purple or yellow you are my T’sey *as little ms. prissy calls you* ~ you are special!!!!
you noticed that huh? (my refraining)
just a little ‘rant light’…not something I’m upset about, just my pov *g*
and give little ms. prissy a hug from her Aunt T’sey
By the way, the paraphrased quote was Voltaire:
“I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.”
As far as whether it’s choice, or genetic… I don’t know. I’ve personally seen that there are many factors involved. I think we’d have a better chance understanding why some people prefer mustard or ketchup on a hot dog.
People’s behavior (especially lately) online has been absolutely revolting. I’m just reading comments and posts all over the place, that I *JUST KNOW* they wouldn’t dare say to another human being to their face. I just found myself editing a comment that even I found in bad taste.
And you know me, T… someone has *really* got to go over the top for *me* to be offended. :0)
damn -e-, you edited a comment?
I have to admit a certain morbid curiosity about this…
and thanks for the info, I remembered the (real) quote, but it’s always nice to know who you’re plagiarizing *S*
I’m pretty much the same person on the street that I am online. There is nothing I’d say here, that I wouldn’t say to your face. One of my biggest faults is that I’ll argue about anything. I could care less what the topic is. I try to preface it with “I may not agree with this, but let’s just say…” but I often forget.
Anyway, much of the hoopla is about me being a bigot, or a hater. Well, maybe I am a hater, but it’s on an individual level. I judge the person, not which demographic they fall into. People that read through what I write to get the meaning see this. People that see the words and let rage block the rest, never will.
Geoffrey… I meant on the web in general. I said the same thing in the comments to the guy who called you a “smug prick”. There’s just people out there now that just feel a little *too safe* in the comfort of their home to say what’s on their mind these days.
Personally, I think you’re hilarious. :0)
I agree with you 100 percent hon, and I’ve always thought the same thing. There is one thing that totally annoys me though….Why do people seem to think that they should be able to tell anyone on this planet who they love or don’t love, or what sex they should sleep with?? Who gives these people all this power over others? Sure as hell not me!
My personal belief is that you don’t fall in love with someone’s gender, you fall in love with their soul. The gender is just there with the soul. :o)
Oh the DRAMA! :):):)
I agree with Maria (and you) completely… except with that “arguing” bit – you’d never argue… no Scorpio ever argues…
well and since Scorpio’s are never wrong *s* I have to agree with you there Daphne.
we simply just point out to others the ‘error of their ways’ and hope they come to their senses (before we beat some into them…)
ROFLMAO @ RedEagle *never wrong* ROFLMAO ~ yeah yeah that is it *big smile*
“I can’t think of one person who would choose to belong to a group, knowing they would be looked down on, not given the same rights and privileges as others, bashed, beaten, and in cases even killed for how they feel.”
You know… some 300,000 Christians are killed every year in the name of what they believe. These are people who joined a group knowing they’d be looked down on, not given the same rights and privileges as others, bashed, beaten, and in cases even killed. And I’m not talking about American Evangelicals, either, who tend to be the ones who stand in judgement of the choices people make. I’m talking about those who live in third world countries and preach an unpopular Gospel to the people.
Uhm, yeah, well… can you name 300,001 people, Simon?
Just kidding Simon, that’s a good point.
I would be very interested in seeing something regarding this simon…
but, as I posted on your site, it’s America I live in, and that this is going on/debated in.
With separation of Church and State, and the “land of the free” it shouldn’t be this way, IMHO
