Well, I got my computer back up and running, (after much stress, hair pulling, ranting, raving, etc…)
Mucho thanks to you, you, you, you, and most especially you! for listening to my bitching and moaning, and letting me bounce ideas off of you for whatever the problem could be, and helping me to find the solutions.
Turns out, not only did I end up replacing the motherboard, et all…I also had a bad chip :sad
So what happens today, when I’ve got all this set up, working, and BOTH hard drives where I can see them?
The power supply goes poof!
I had shut down after checking mail this morning, everything was fine…go to turn it on this evening and nothing.
deader than a doornail.
I check connections, double and triple check them.
Nada
zip
zilch
oh, did I mention this is BRAND NEW?!? It came with the case…grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
so how am I here you might ask?
well, I now have 2 cases without all their parts…
both of which, have good power supplies *G*
and yes, I’d hate to be those people in the computer store where I bought this thing at tomorrow to *evil laugh*

Computer Repair Rule #1: Do not attempt to repair computers while you are angry. It never works. 😉
Glad you were able to rebuild your machine. I know how such crap feels, it has happened to me too many times already. I remember one weekend when my office gave me a malfunctioning Laptop. You know how they partition the whole hard drive as one partition. I just hate that… Of course I had to reinstall. This all began Thursday evening, and sunday night, after 11:00 PM I had still not got that evil machine back up properly!
I eventually gave up. I felt SO pissed, I felt as though I cold chop that PC to bits! When the technicians at my office couldn’t fix it either, they sent it back to Dell, who said it had a bad disk controller! Can you believe it? A whole weekend wasted!
Speedbump understands your pain ~ Lord knows you’ve listened to him at all hours of the night when he has decided against MY RULE to screw around on Betty Lou and how many times has he crashed her??? GGGRRRR ~ Glad you got things up and running !!!!
I SHUDDER at the thought of what you’ve gone through. Thank God for kids…..when it goes bad, I look woeful and ask them…”Do you know how to fix this??” On occasion they come through splendidly, and they are smart enough to know when to tell me to talk to Dell. NOT that I am superstitious or anything….. Keep up the good work, and let the computer store jockeys have it both barrels!
ooops…..there was a (knock on wood…) in that comment. I forget that I can’t use some of the characters here.
You have been officially heckled on International Heckling Day.
No, you were heckled. Do not try to come back with something clever, or I shall return to heckle you some more.
