  1. Yes….A news announcer here took the time to point out that it was equal protection under the law, NOT marriage that was allowed, and that this is similar to what a couple of other states have on the books now.
Is Massachussetts seen as a liberal state?

  2. Mass. is an extremely liberal state traditionally. These are really weird political times, though. I still think I’m the only Republican in my area. I told a bartender I was a Conservative last friday, and he had someone else serve me the rest of the night. No joke.

  3. Damn Geoffrey… you’d feel at home in PA. I was a Republican in NY, (but we’re considered bleeding heart liberals compared to the rest of the US), but PA is TOO damn Republican for my taste.
Oh, and congrats to the Commonwealth of Massachussetts for making a wise choice (for once). :0)

  4. I’m not sure it was a wise choice. Due to the courts ruling, it didn’t leave much room for compromise. If it had, the timeline would have forced the house to at the very least enact some sort of legalized union legislation. While this isn’t what the gay camp wants, it’s a foot in the door.
By forcing the house to do something they don’t want, they’ve put them in a position where the only chance of saving face is to amend the constitution.
