today is the first day of school here..I swear its not time yet..
so much was supposed to be done by the end of the summer and its not, still waiting and wondering..and getting more frustrated by the day about it.
yesterday we went school shopping, for those of you who don’t get to experience this joy let me tell ya..you’re missing out
for those that do, well try it with your ex sometime..
I don’t feel comfortable around him, so I tend to talk and ramble on when he’s around to try and cover this..couple this with my kids tendency to talk about anything that strikes them and you have the makings of one hell of a migraine..
I think know he’s up to something..
anyway..I have a question for you parents out there who tirelessly search the isles for every asinine thing the teachers put on the school supply lists..(you know what I mean, what exactly *are* twist up crayons, crayola glue with the no clog tip (what ever happened to Elmer’s?))
I don’t know about where you live, but here the store has the lists for all of the area schools right as you walk in..so it would seem any sane person could look at it and see what types of things parents are going to need to buy for their kids this year right? now wouldn’t it make sense to have said items actually in the store so as to make it more convenient for everyone..parent comes in, picks up list, picks up supplies, store makes money..
easy right?
wrong..
every single year since my kids have been in school there has always been ONE item that the store does not have..does not even CARRY!!
can someone please explain the logic of this? especially in this town where the next nearest place one can enjoy such torture (I hate shopping, I really do) is at least 45 min. away? I mean it costs more in gas to get there than the item itself!
fortunately..this year I lucked out..
while said store did not carry it..the local grocery store (and trust me thats giving it a lot more credit that IT’S due) did..
who knew that seeing more of their employees show up at PTA meetings would be such a good thing *s*

Pssst…. you’re reading the wrong list. The *real* list is written in lemon juice (invisible ink) on the back of the page. You have to place your lighter close to the page (but not touching) to make the list appear….
OMG! Yuppers, know the ‘back-to-school list ritual dance’ in this household as well girlie, makes the hair on my arms & back of my neck stand straight on end! OIY!!!! Don’t get me started though on the same prob you had, that one bloody item that the store doesn’t even carry, I mean WTF is up with that?!! It’s to ensure we truly are nutso … if the kiddos can’t do it, the stores at back-to-school time WILL! 😉

When I went to school we had to get things like pencils, paper, glue (yes, Elmers). Now they have shit on their lists like one box Kleenex, one roll tin foil (tin foil?), one Black & Decker 389-xj model drill-byfold carbeurator. WTF? What the hell are they teaching these kids?
I don’t know..still trying to figure out why they need one box of ziploc bags for first grade here??
I long for the days of one binder, package of paper (or big chief tablet if you were in the lower grades) scissors, glue, pencils, and of course erasers..as you got older you needed a folder for each subject..that was IT..
now I think they just try to make parents crazy by seeing how far/how much trouble, it is to find all this crap they ‘require’
Now I’m gonna piss ya off. *grin* Here they send out the school supply list for the next year, with the end of the year report cards. Who saves every scrap of paper for a whole summer?*LOL*
Well, they know this, so when we go to the stores {WalMart & Kmart at least} for school supply shopping, they have a big disply with folders that have the school district name and number on them. In each folder is the supply list for that school, each grade!
AND all the supplies are in 3 aisles!! Right next to the “list display”!! As long as you don’t wait till the last minute, like I normally do, get your list, and all the supplies, in one fell swoop!! Gotta love really small communities!! 🙂
Who let Vikki in here?
