Elegant Mother has been under the weather this week. Both she and I have had a very minor stomach upset, but what is minor to me, is a bit more debilitating in an 88 year old. We went to breakfast with our exercise group, to celebrate the birthdays in February on Wednesday, and that evening she was ill. I knew that this bug was worth noting when she canceled her hair appointment on Thursday morning.
I spent Thursday and Friday at home, trying to get her to eat a little bit, and this morning both Dear Husband and I had to go out. He had a couple of hours of work, cleaning up a job site and moving things to the next job, and I was supposed to have a perm.
I arrived at the salon at 8:00 to find that my hairdresser, who will be giving birth in about 6 weeks, was ill with a nasty sounding upper respiratory problem. She really should have stayed at home, in bed, recuperating, but she was there. She said "We're going to do a cut, right," and l looked at her as if she had lost her mind. "NO.....it's time for a PERM!"
It wasn't to be. The receptionist who had booked my appointments made them all for cuts....and missed the fact that I was supposed to have a perm today. So, we settled for a cut to get me through the week, and NEXT Saturday, I get the perm. Unfortunately, I'll have to go at 2:00 in the afternoon, my least favorite appointment time. I shouldn't complain. My hairdresser is making sure that I get in to see her before she goes on maternity leave. Not many people have that kind of consideration for their clients these days.
With my newly shorn head, I headed out to finish my errands for the day. I stopped at the Post Office and UPS to return merchandise, visited the bank, and then went to Dear Husband's favorite store, Farm & Fleet, to pick up bins for bird seed. Then, I filled the gas tank (which was on fumes), and did a little grocery shopping.
I have the afternoon before me, and my bed could be one of the Sirens, luring me into it's clutches! I'm going to go feed the birds, and see if the cold air will break the sleep spell the Sirens are casting.

Sorry to hear of yours (and your Ma's) stomach troubles. I have felt tummy troubles since Tuesday night... not quite figured out yet what it is that is the cause. I'm hoping it'll go away, however, and not give me cause to hang around a doctors office/waiting room.
You do have a good hairdresser to make that extra effort to make the time for the perm before her mat leave.
Have yourself a great weekend, Buffy.
Take care of those bus, Buffy and EM, so that you'll be up and perky, soon!
Hum... bugs! Don't like em! Never did no how! Any way I kope she is well and sasy as a wild cat! Have a good week, thanks for reminding me I'm out of bird seed!
Thank you, all! Whatever this is, it's mild, but aggravating. Mother graduated to a scrambled egg, and bread for dinner tonight, so we're gradually getting her back to gentle but regular food.
Des, I've been with Kristin for ages, and you can see why. She's very special. I like her so much that I've made her two children baby quilts.
