It's very odd to have a rainy day in the middle of February. We have a weather front coming in that is giving us a rainy day that will most likely lead into a week of much more common winter weather.
It's gray outside. Everything is wrapped in layers of fog, and the trees are dripping from the last shower. We've had sleet, and hail, and rain, and light showers. As the temperatures drop this evening, we'll probably see the start of a couple of days of snow.
Sitting here in the office, I just heard thunder, followed by the low, mournful sound of a train whistle. The tracks are at least a mile away, but the damp air has carried the sound to us.
It's a good day for a nap.

Kinda like the twilight zone here in the Poconos. I woke up to snow on the ground and now it's all gone. (Not complaining mind you... I am SICK of snow).

We were supposed to get snow, but Mother Nature played some tricks on the weather forecasters. Thursday was unpleasant, gray, gloomy, rainy, and working it's way toward sleet by the time we got home at noon. Then nothing!
No snow, no sleet, no hail...nothing. Like you, I'm not complaining, but it was odd to be prepared for the worst and then just get COLD! I think one of the nearby towns reported MINUS TWELVE one night! Brrrrr.
Today was sunny and cold, and they say we may see the 30s by Tuesday. I give up. When I see leaves on the trees I'll know it's warm.

even FL has been like this...40/50's one day, 70/80's the next...we just had a beautiful few days, shorts weather really, and now it's down to the 30's overnight with freeze warnings
I know, not as cold as you guys up north, but for here it's a bit odd ;-)

Unfortunately, we already have leaves on (ornamental pear) trees, and my peach trees are ready to burst into bloom. This cold snap will fix that! The irises have been growing for two or three weeks. We've had such a warm winter that it's confused the growing things! Sorry that you didn't get some moisture, if you needed it. We certainly need it. I watered the roses, bushes, and trees before the cold snap hit; but, much as I should have, I didn't water the grass. Think we've had less than a total of 1" of moisture in the last two or three months.

~T~, my sis was just down your way for a conference, and she was happy to tell us that it was in the 70s! I think she was phenomenally lucky to have made it there on a warm week. Of course, to us, anything over 30 would be warm. It was 56 the other day when I was helping Dear Husband with the snow plow, and I was thinking "Spring!" YOU would have been thinking "Brrrrrrrr!" *G*
Cop Car, I'm so sorry that your plants are going to get nipped! We seem to have just snow bells trying to pop up a little early, but we're a lot further north than you. Still...I can see that the star magnolia is trying to create flower buds, and I know the cold weather won't do that any good. We're REALLY short on moisture. We've had more during the winter, but no where near enough. I haven't even tried to water anything outside. I've watered the plants in the garage, but I suspect they aren't going to make it.
