Word of the Day

The word of the day is "fastidious," as in....."I'm fastidious about my choice of fast food."

I'm considering trying Weight Watchers. Friends have shared some of the information with me so that I can make an informed choice on which plan would work best for me. I was looking through the booklet on eating out, and discovered that McDonald's Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit weighs in at THIRTEEN points.

I suppose that doesn't sound too bad until you realize that the sandwich wipes out considerably more than a third of the points for the day, and that doesn't even count the hash brown that comes with it.

It looks like I will have to become MORE fastidious about my fast food choices!

Adele:

Buffy, any chance of you taking a packed lunch with you on those days when you know you would otherwise have to buy at a fast ood place? Is there a park, or somewhere, where you could sit and eat it?

Alternatively I understand that the salads sold by fast food outlets like MacDonalds are very popular. Are they a possible option, once in a while?

Yes, I could, Adele. Actually, it's rare when I know I will be away across the noon hour, and I could easily choose a salad instead of the more fattening options. That's another part of the problem....making wise choices.

How many points constitutes a day's allowance?

Of course, one must be leery of the dressings that come with the salads. About 10 years ago, I was amazed that the packet of dressing that they gave me was 225 calories worth! I use about 1/2 or 1 teaspoon of dressing, if any, to avoid those extra fats (oils, usually).

Yeah....the dressing will be a problem for me. I really prefer creamy dressings, but I just found a roasted red pepper parmesan that is VERY low in calories....and maybe I could carry a little bottle of that with me.
