Sunday of the Green Thumb

I am SO proud of myself. Each year I buy plants, and I loose some of them because I don't get them planted within a reasonable period. This year, as in past years, I fell prey to that "I HAVE to have one (or three) of those" compulsion, and I filled up what passes for a trunk in our SUV.

I unloaded the plants, and some of them went directly into containers for my mother, and others were left in the garage, temporarily, or so I thought. They were there at least a week before I moved them outside so they wouldn't die of lack of sunshine.

They sat outside for a week, and the temperatures finally started to rise, and it was time for serious concern, or maybe even......NO!....not that.......ACTION!!!

Unfortunately I had waited for one of the hottest days to come along to spend time in my gardens. In two hours I managed to plant about 25 plants: three types of basil, two types of parsley, two types of rosemary, tricolor sage, two types of miniature tomatoes, purple verbena, impatiens and petunias!

YEA!! There's hope for me yet!

No, Buffy, there is nada hope for you. What do you mean working...on a hot day, at that? You're supposed to be in a hammock, in the shade, sipping iced lemonade. I guess I'll just have to loaf twice as much to make up for you. Congratulations!

Oh My God! Can you see me trying to get into a HAMMOCK???

You're right, there's no hope for me. The best I can do until the gardens can hold their own, is to work EARLY in the morning. I'll keep yesterday's lesson in mind, I promise.
