Well, the new copy of the Operating System arrived today. Rather than bringing it to the house, Airborne Express dropped it off at the mail box. I'm amazed it was still there when we picked up the mail.
I've started the re-programming. I'm at the point where I have to call Dell to ask a few questions. Although I have mouse, keyboard and monitor function, I suspect I need to load the CDs for the monitor and the keyboard for more advanced functions. I have drivers for the modem and sound to install, and I have to get Microsoft Office, Quick Books and AOL on, too.
Thank you, one and all for your support as I learn to do this!

OMG... you know there is an easier way... we just bought a new pc today (so we have 2 decent ones) ... the new one is a laptop and it was out of the box and hooked up to the web in a matter of an hour. I sent an email and did some surfiing. Now, it is back in the box to go back as there is a small defect in the screen (that was there from the get go) so hubby will take it back tomorrow to be replaced.
Sounds like you are in for a fun weekend!

I ok... looked back a bit and I think I see what's up. Bugger that you didn't get the operating system on disc from the start (actually, my desk pc did not come with discs either). My thoughts go your way as you deal with the software.
