Blind Date TV

We have a cable channel here in the US which used to be known as The Nashville Network (TNN). It has recently been taken over by aliens and is known now as "Spike." It's being touted as the first network for men.

I love the Star Trek: Next Generation reruns, and I can live with an occasional James Bond movie, but there's a new show called "Blind Date" that's really irritating me.

Tonight at seven in the evening, they ran an ad for that program that qualified for one of the porn channels. It showed men and women in a hot tub in a grotto...doing what most couples do in private. And, if the title of the show is correct, these people had just met.

Does that mean that they hired prostitutes to play the female leads, or have the morals of the twenties generation deteriorated so much that they don't think twice about being filmed while they have sex with strangers? Is the draw the possibility that they may be "discovered," and that it will lead to a TV contract?

I just don't understand why a woman would consider participating in one of these shows. I suppose I can see why a man might watch the program once, or perhaps twice. But I can't understand why he would be a repeat viewer.

I should have expected sleaze like this from a station that touts "Striperella" and "Gary the Rat." I'm really glad that the men in this house don't tune in.

Ohhhh Speed and I on desperate nights of nothing to watch ran across that program one night and of course we sat there and laughed and did our whole tv critic routine!!! It is an awful show!!

...ooooo, is 'striperella' the show about 'as tripper at night, a super-hero even later' :^)...it's got pamela anderson in it and was written by stan lee???...all I know is that when asked if she had any creative input to the show ms. anderson replied "yep, I asked if her nipples could cut glass"...now, that is a show that just oozes class :^)...

Jamie, you and Speed critiquing shows would be funnier than that show. Maybe we're missing out on something here.

Billy! I could have lived without that tidbit of information!
