Tomorrow, October 26, is Dear Husband's birthday. He isn't much for celebrating birthdays, but that doesn't matter. His daughter is orchestrating a big surprise for him. He thinks she's going to take him to play Bingo. She asked him how he'd like to celebrate, and he quietly mentioned Bingo and shuffleboard. Personally, I think she SHOULD take him to play Bingo. Maybe next time he'd give a more reasonable answer when someone asks him what he wants to do! *G*
Sunday, the kids and I, Elegante Mother and Frankie, will take him to dinner at noon, at a favorite Italian place. What he doesn't know is that extended family and friends have been invited to the house for coffee and dessert when we return from dinner. I have to see to beverages, plates and napkins, and cleaning the house. My step-daughter is taking care of everything else. It was a deal I couldn't turn down.
Dare I tell you which birthday this is? Nah.....I'll be a good wife. Go ask Frankie, (my sister). Maybe she'll tell you! *G*

I assume Dear Husband doesn't read your blog...or else...there goes the surprise. It sounds like you're going to have a great time Buffy. Hope you take pictures of his face when he gets there....

Buffy--It is well that you Dear Husband's birthday doesn't occur during sailing season. You wouldn't stand a chance of getting him to a surprise birthday bash. Your and Step-Daughter's pact sounds great for having a celebration that DH will enjoy. Put some Beethovan on the CD player and go for it! Please tell DH "happy birthday" for me.

Joy, Dear Husband doesn't read my blog. Of my entire extended family, just one sister blogs and reads my blog. My family tends to think I'm doing something odd by blogging.
Thanks for the reminder. I have to be sure to have my camera ready!

I hear that all the time from bloggers Buffy. Many family members just don't get into it...for whatever reason. All of my kids and a good portion of my extended family do read my blog...but not everyone. One of my daughters is the one who nudged me into blogging to begin with....she, Ronni, and several other bloggers. My husband read my blog, but not long after I started it...he passed away. At that point, my blog was a godsend...it literally kept me going. Your husband and the others are missing out on some good stuff...once they start, they may never stop. Take care...

Happy birthday to your DH! I think that a lot of times, other people get more excited about birthdays than the actuall celebratee (is that a word?).
Me? I would rather be given a couple hours where I can sit down and read a book (or at least make a good dent in the book). I've had one, and only one, surprise BD party - made sure that was the last too!

Joy, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's good to hear that a blog can carry us through difficult times.
Bogie, I think I agree with you about prefering a little time to read or even to quilt. I enjoy my family, but I'd rather spend a holiday with them, than celebrate my birthday. There are so many more interesting things to do!
Bod....okay....I can't believe it, but DH is 60. *S*
