More Bad News

This has been a really tough year. I feel like the Al Capp character who went around with a dark cloud over his head all the time.

I learned this week that one of my nieces has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I know that medical research has made stunning inroads on breast cancer in my lifetime. I know there are a number of amazing new treatments available to my niece, and that she will get the very best care. I know that she has the love and support of her family, and of friends. I know she is a strong woman, and that she will make it through this. But I'm still scared for her.

Cop Car:

Breast cancer is always scary. Thank goodness that your niece need not face this obstacle, alone.

She'll have the support and love and prayers of every member of the family, and the best medical care that is available. If she chooses to come home for the treatment, the University of Chicago and the University of Michigan are two of the top ten sites for breast cancer treatment in the U.S.

Awful news, so sorry to hear.

How old is she?

At least she has her family, and the knowledge that she can have access to the best treatment in the world.

Adele:

Buffy, so sorry to hear this piece of news. The good thing is, as you say, that there have been huge developments in the treatment of breast cancer. And, of course, she has the full support of her family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

ISo sorry to hear this news. With today's advances I am sure she will make it through. Thoughts and pprayers are with her.

Thank you for your support, ladies. She is 47, at a wonderful time of her life. We're hoping for the best.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your neice. I hope the warm thoughts of others will help you both endure yet another worrisome complication of life. And as others have already stated, the good news is the steady progress that has already been made in only recent years to successfully treat breast cancer. (Hugs).

Thank you, Roberta. I'm happy to gather all the prayers and positive thoughts I can for this very special woman. She flew into Chicago last night and is resting for the next few days. She has appointments at both Northwestern and the University of Chicago. If anyone can help her, the docs at these two fine facilities will.

My prayers and thoughts are with her and your family!!! Please keep us posted ~

Thank you, Jamie. My niece flew into Chicago on Thursday night and will start testing at two different teaching hospitals on Monday. And opinion, and a second opinion, seems to be a good idea.
