Speaking of Gifts...

I have been quietly accumulating pictures of things I have blogged about. Because I am not yet into the digital age, my pictures lag behind my thoughts and blogs, and occasionally I forget that I have things to share.

I have a very dear friend on-line who's mother has taken up quilting. Quilting Mom lives in Scotland. I sent her a subscription to Quilter's Newsletter Magazine for Christmas, knowing the magazine was most likely not available there. I wanted her to see the range of cottons available here, and to see some of the techniques American quilters use. I hoped it would encourage her to continue to take lessons.

It turns out the magazines have been a great hit. QM shares them with her classmates, and her quilting teacher and her daughter. I have it on good authority that each issue is well thumbed through. I can't begin to tell you how happy I was to be able to share them.

Quilting Mom enjoyed them so much, that she very quietly set about making two appliquéd pillow cases for me. Here's the first:

If you compare the pictures you'll see that the second pillow is a bit different. What you can't see are the fine lines of quilting that set off the design. The hand work is lovely.

I was astounded when the package came. Even the card, which was hand made, was beautiful! Gifts like that let us know how truly blessed we are to have friends.

I'll have to keep an eye on Elegante Mother. When I opened the package, she said they were just to her taste! If they go missing, I'll know where to look.

Thank you, so much, my friend!

Dear Buffy i know ive been gone for quite some time now and maybe you have no desire to know whats happened but i dont know what everyone else knows. Bill has left. on nov 16th i came home to find a letter telling me so. there was no contact address and as i thought he'd been down i was frantic with what might have happened.i tried calling his mobile and although my phone was telling me hedgot the messages there was no reply. he didnot reply to my emails. he did reply to his brother just saying he was safe. eventually i did get a message from him saying there was another woman. it was quite by chance that we dicovered he was in mexico and then we realised who he was with. hes been having an affair with maria for some time and has gone over there to be with her.
i can't tell you how devastated we are. it appears hes been cutting himself off from all his friends and started another blog back in august telling the world, everyone except his family and friends that is, what he was about to do. the children found this blog and read it. i can't begin to describe the effect it has had on them.
he always used to tell me what was happening on your blog and the others but this slowly declined and i guess i didn't notice as i was very depressed and just trying to get through each day. i did enjoy hearing about your life and would like slowly to join in again if that's ok. also your blogs remind me of the man i used to know not the monster he seems to have become please say its ok.

Joe:

Good for you girl! What a nice gift in return! Hope you're family had a nice holiday!

Bod:

buffy, my blog seems not to be showing new posts so if you have gotten mine perhaps you would say on your own blog, will read tomorrow.

buffy:

Bod, I'm deeply concerned. When I first read your post, I was hesitant to reply, hoping that this was a joke of some sort. I'd been thinking about sending a note to the two of you to see how things were going, before you posted your message.

It's so very difficult to comfort a friend you have only met through the Internet. It isn't quite the same as being able to give a real hug, or offer companionship. I wish there was more I could do. I hope you know that I'm sorry for your troubles, and I hope you and the kids will be okay.

Please post your blog address, and, if you will, send me the address for Bill's second blog.

Bod:

dear buffy thankyou for your reply, it is much appreciated. my blog, i'm not at all sure about the address for my blog as it was linked with bill's and although i created a new post it hasn't shown up in the profile so i'll have to get some advice on what i'm doing. You can contact me at billandcal@btinternet.com as i have kept the email address. as for bill's new blog address, my daughter has told me it's been closed down. the night she read it she said there were a lot of comments from his friends from home and she felt compelled to comment herself and i guess they didn't want to hear them.
the one thing that i would have said everyone knew about bill was his honesty but it would appear from what they have found that this has recently been restricted to everyone else but us, the people it should have mattered most to.
i am trying desparately now to remember the man i married and recognise that this is someone else and i am taking solace in getting back to the blogs he shared with me. i do hope this is okay. sincerely carolyn aka bod.

Elsie:

Cop Car:

Buffy--What wonderful work your friend did on the pillow cases. I can well imagine that Elegant Mother would wish to lay claim.

Bod & Elsie--Like Buffy, when I first read your comments, I could only imagine that Billy was playing some sort of twisted joke on us. It can be hoped that he will come to his senses and recognize the hurt that has been dealt. Hugs across the miles--to all involved.

buffy:

Bod, it's just as well that the second blog has closed down. It would just make me livid to read it. I've asked my blog host to add your blog to my list of links, so we can keep in touch more easily. I am very flattered to see that my blog is on your list of links. Thank you, sweetie.
As one of your readers said, take life ten minutes at a time. And, hug those precious kids of yours! You're always welcome here.

Elsie.....thanks for the address!

Cop Car, yes....QM did fabulous work. We've gotten a bit off track in the comments, but she deserves acolades for her gifts. They are really lovely.

I have to go read your blog. I've missed your commentsthe past few days, so you must have been really busy.
