Virtuosity

I'm feeling very virtuous tonight!

I am a terrible procrastinator, as you'll see if you read further down. I'm pleased to announce that I have just about pulled together the information for my 2004 taxes!

I used to hand the material over to my CPA about ten days before the taxes were due, and she NEVER chewed me out. Because she is so kind to me, each year I have tried to gather the information earlier than the previous year.

This year, she and I have agreed to do a swap. I'll go pick up the corporate taxes before the fifteenth of March, and I'll hand her our personal taxes. Wow! One WHOLE MONTH before the deadline!

I wonder if WichiDude would say "Virtuosity happens"? Dear Husband would!

Cop Car:

"Virtuosity". Is that a real word or are you just testing us, Buffy? Great going, gal. I'm still getting forms in the mail (one Tuesday, one yesterday). It makes it hard for us to do our taxes early (which we wouldn't do, anyway!) I think these two must be corrections to two that I'd already received. They are limited partnerships (I think I have a little money in each of three) and are good investments, but so different from anything else that we deal with that it drives us nuts. (Their paperwork is getting better about leading us through the process, though!)

Ours taxes are so easy I almost feel guilty reading about all the stuff you have to go thru!

Mine used to be a breeze, bogie, but when my Dad died, he left us each a portion of the farmland he owned, so we are part of a partnership. That information requires a schedule all its own, and we have to wait for that information before we can do the taxes.

Dear Husband has a wee pot of money that he uses to play the stock market. I encourage his play, because he's VERY good at it. All that requires a lot more bookkeeping for taxes, so I let the woman who is the corporate CPA do our taxes, too. It's worth it to know that if there's an error, they will be there to straighten it out.

Cop Car, I understand the frustration of having to wait for the information before you can file. We lucked out this year, and the info came early, or I wouldn't be this far along on my taxes.

According to Dictionary.com:
Virtuosity: 1.The technical skill, fluency, or style exhibited by a virtuoso or a composition.
2. An appreciation for or interest in fine objects of art.

Would I kid you?????

Cop Car:

OK. Let me put it another way. I'd never seen the word used to imply virtue--which I thought you were doing. I guess that being good at something is a virtue, however, so I bow to your greater comprehension (and to your greater virtuosity--LOL).

Drat! Caught out!

I was using a real word incorrectly. You know, as well as I do, that I should have said I was feeling virtuous. I detest hearing people saying that they are "enthused" about something, because thirty five years ago that word didn't exist. You can probably find it in dictionaries today as a result of common use. I suppose using virtuosity in this context was the same type of error....but I was goofing around, and was clear that I was using the word inappropriately. I just couldn't resist sassing you after you sent us to that language test! lol

Cop Car:

Ooh...I am well chastised! I am with you on "enthused". One of my pet peeves, that is also now in the dictionary is "predominantly" used for "predominately". Picky, picky, aren't we? (We'll blame Elegant Mother--LOL!)

oooooooohhh.....I make that error. I better make a note of it. Thanks, Cop Car!

Well done.... our taxes are whispering to us to get to them, but then, we look at the calendar and see there is still time to put it off. I commend you on your organizational skills, Buffy!

It's just dumb luck, Des....I can't figure out how I managed to get them ready so early. lol But, thanks! It's always nice to be commended. *S*

...the joy of living in ingerland is PAYE or pay as you earn :^)...the govt take the taxes out at source and we don't have to worry about calculating anything...

Frankly, Billy, that seems a WHOLE lot smarter to me. That way there would be no loopholes that allowed the wealthy to get away with not paying any tax.
