Satisfaction

There is something so completely satisfying about finishing a project. I generally keep a running list in the back of my mind about all that needs to be done around the house, the gardens, in the office and for my mother. When the list gets too long, I start putting it on paper.

I've been making paper lists of things in the office lately, so I knew that it was time to get to some of the things that have been bothering me.

I started my day with 45 minutes at the sewing machine. I'm working on a rustic wallhanging that has foundation pieced pine trees and a cabin. Each morning this past week, I've started my day piecing at the sewing machine. Soon, I'll be able to reclaim my sewing area.

We went to exercise, and when we came home, I started the washer, folded several loads of clothes and cleaned the kitchen. I was on such a roll, that I decided today was the day to organize the Christmas decorations in the basement.

My mother takes down her tree on New Year's Day. I usually start gathering up the decorations about a week later. This year, it must have been well into the second week of January before I started the process, because I remember reading about Twelfth Night and thinking there wasn't a prayer we'd have the house put back to order by then. Sometime before the first of February, I got the men of the house to take the boxes of decorations downstairs. They stacked them three and four high around the table I use to box things up.

Today I spent about two hours collecting things into piles of like items: bows, ribbon, candles and candle rings, mugs, decorations, lights, Santas, Christmas linens, and the nativity scene. I stored them in clear plastic boxes and moved the boxes to the built in storage at the outside walls of the basement. I even reorganized the Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations.

I still have a couple of things to take downstairs, but most of the decorations are safely put away for the year. I feel GREAT!

As a matter of fact, I felt so great today, that I took on two other chores that I've wanted to get done. I finished several Thank You notes, and put away the note cards that had been cluttering my desk top. I sorted through everything on my desk and put it into one of four piles: To File, Personal, Needs Attention, and Needs IMMEDIATE Attention. I can see half of my desk top now!
YEAH!

And....one of my stepsons found the information I needed to export the addresses from my Outlook program. Eighteen months ago my hard drive died, and I had to reinstall everything. Luckily, I had backups for almost everything, but I lost all the addresses in Outlook. I didn't want to get burned again, so I waited until I knew how to export the addresses before retyping the entire list. TODAY was the day! Tomorrow, I plan to proof read the list to see what items I'm missing. Then I'll export the data, and make copies of the information for the company phone book. YES!!!

What a day.

Now....I'm going off to bed. Either I'll be wired and be back to bug all of you, or I'll be snoring before my head hits the pillow. I'm betting on the snoring.

I just wanted to share how nice it was to have accomplished so much in one day, and blog too! *S*

Cop Car:

My gosh, are you on speed? What a day's work you put in! Congratulations. What is this "foundation piecing" of which you write? (You have to explain quilting/sewing/decorating terms to some of us!)

I didn't feel like I was on speed yesterday, but I can't get over how much I got done!

I'll have to blog about "foundation piecing." It will take a bit more room than I have here.
