....to my week, and to this blogging session.
I spent about 15 minutes writing an entry, only to find that it has disappeared off the face of the earth! Maddening!
At any rate.....I was cat sitting for a friend who has three marvelous cats. I was on my way to do the evening visit on Monday, and as I walked up the sidewalk, my feet flew out from under me. Somehow, probably in trying to break my fall, I ended up landing square on my right knee. Other that the visceral "WOW! That HURTS!!!" the first thought to go through my head was that we wouldn't be able to take lunch to an exercise buddy who has broken her ankle.
After I landed on my knee, I must have thrust myself back to get my weight off the knee, and I ended up in the shrubbery, where I picked up several slivers. I looked and felt like a beached whale. No one was around to assist me, and my phone was in the car. There was nothing I could use to pull myself up.
I slithered over the sidewalk and into the grass, and tested my knee. I was finally able to rise, and was very surprised to find that I was able to walk. I fed the cats, and loved them up quickly, and headed home, in case something dreadful was yet to come.
I seem to have lucked out. I have a few miscellaneous aches and pains, and two spots of skin scraped off the cap of my knee, but I seem fine otherwise. I'm taking anti-inflammatories. My knee is warm to the touch, and I developed some bruising Wednesday afternoon, but if that's all that happens, I've gotten off easy.
The sidewalk looked dry. I could not see ANY ice at all on it, and was really shocked when I went flying. Elegante Mother has had some balance problems recently, so we've been very cautious about footing. I lucked out. I was embarrassed, but not mortally. I'll get over it, especially since I'm still up and walking!

It's too bad that I'm not there to kiss your knee, for you. On second thought, that might be the end of your knee! I am so sorry for your tumble. Undoubtedly, a bit of sand/grit got between your shoe and the sidewalk. Owie--big time! You may find aches in the strangest places--muscles in your back that got overstretched when the arms got flung out, etc. My advice is to enjoy a cup of tea and stroke Edward. Your Sister, The Nurse will undoubtedly be able to offer better advice.

Ed thanks you, BIG TIME! lol He's with me now, cadging some lovin, and hoping for a new plate of food.
You're right about aches in odd places, and I found a couple more slivers that need to be removed. But, I've lucked out.
Thanks for thinking of a kiss on the knee. Ya make me feel all warm and fuzzy! lol

Those %#@!%$#@! falls scare the stuffing out of you, and yes, you were very lucky to come out of it relatively unscathed Buffy. I can't get over how cautious I've become around stairs, slippery sidewalks and curbs. I swear, sometimes I act like I'm 90 years old. Hope your knee mends fast and well sweetie...

Ouch! That must have hurt. I hope you are fully recovered by now. I've tripped on nothing I could see in the past and remember very well what a shock it is to the system, both at the time and later. Just take it easy for a day or so and hopefully you will be fully recovered..

Joy, I WAS scared. After hurting that knee two years ago, I learned just how long it takes to get close to normal again. I'm very lucky I'm walking.
Like you, I'm cautious on stairs. I don't go to the basement now, unless Dear Husband is home, if I can help it. Elegante Mother wouldn't be able to help me if I fell, so I try to avoid situations like that.
We'll BOTH have to be careful!

Adele, it DID hurt! I'm very fortunate that it doesn't hurt now, other than the spots where skin is growing back. But, it will be some time before the knee is healed. The bruising has spread down the kneecap and to the right, and I can't kneel. While I can walk and rise from chairs, I can't do anything in the gardens, yet. Luckily, we have about two months before the date when we normally plant annuals, but I'm concerned about being able to clean up last year's debris.
Still and all....I'm lucky I'm walking!

I am thinking Ouch at the thought of that big bruise. Just take it easy. The garden will always be there and so just let your knee fully recover before you start clear-uo operations.

Adele, I've been on my feet a lot today, so I gave myself the treat of shopping for plants for the garden on-line. I want to do hot colors like orange and deep red and gold with medium to dark blue in the gardens along the sidewalk.
I found two wonderful dark red dahlias, and two echinops (one of them is known as "Sea Holly.") What a lovely thirty minutes THAT was! *S*
I know you're right about letting the gardens be done when I am able. I'll have to see if I have family that's willing to give me a little time. Maybe I could blitz the gardens all in one day. Doesn't THAT sound like a bit of heaven?? *G*

OH, PLEASE! I'm SURE I told you that I landed on my knee! Didn't I???
Well, no matter. It looks ugly, but my knee is working, and that's what matters. It's not like I was going to wear a short skirt for Easter!

OMG! I just caught a glimpse of you and me in mini skirts for Easter, Buffy. Thanks for the glimpse! (I needed the laugh.)

CC...a long, long time ago, on a planet far, far away, it might have happened, but those days are LONG PAST!
I'm glad you got some grins from the image of us in mini-skirts. The rest of the family is probably shuddering at the thought! lol
