I know that I should have jumped out of bed and rushed to embrace the day, but I snoozed in for a bit. We turned on the heat last night. Temperatures in the Chicago area dipped well into the 30s, and I was concerned that my mother might turn blue in the night without a little heat.
In the post below, you'll see that I've finally started working on my basement. I shifted Christmas and Easter decorations to their storage spots along the wall and began the reorganization of the companies papers. Unfortunately, I also stirred up a LOT of dust. Our furnaces draw air from the basement, and along with it, that same dust.
So, this morning we have the snuffles. I'll have to go out in a bit to do some shopping. Actually, that sounds like a sure way to end my snuffles: get away from the dust!
Dear Husband resolved the situation by going off to sail for the day. I'm betting that he has both the snuffles AND chattering teeth. It's still pretty cool out there, and it will be colder on the water.
For whatever reason, I'm glad to have the chance to get out today. We have a beautiful, sunny, clear Fall day, and it would be a shame to waste it!
Enjoy the weekend, y'all!

Our temperatures have only reached down into the 50s, so far, and the house is still in the low 70s--without heat from the furnace. I turned off the heating/cooling equipment the minute that Hunky Husband left for his Red Cross duties in Louisiana. HH returns, this afternoon. If the cool nights continue, our furnace will be pumping out heat during the nights and our AC will be sucking it in during the days. HH has a rather narrow range of comfort for temperature/humidity. It's a good thing he's cute! *smiling*

CC....Elegante Mother would like to live with HH!! Like your husband, she has a very narrow comfort zone and we have heated the house to a much warmer temperature than I care for in the winter.
On the other hand, she has helped me adjust to less air conditioning than I would normally want. I used to think the 70-72 was hog heaven in the summer, and now we tend to be closer to the 78-80 range, so that EM doesn't turn blue. I've tried to encourage her to get up and move around to keep warm, but at almost 91, she's not eager to hear that advice.
When I am cooking, with the oven and stove on, and I'm wearing my thinnest t-shirt, and a bandana around my forehead, and STILL have perspiration running down my face, they relent, and turn the AC down a bit! *G* They really don't want to see me strip down any further (giggling)

Janet, I meant to tell you that the shopping went well. I lucked out and found a place that had what I needed on the first try. I walked in and bought a gray front-button hip length jacket with black embroidery, three pairs of black slacks, a pair of blue jeans, a necklace and earrings in under 30 minutes, complete with trying things on! My mother shops that way.....less the trying on part.
I have to say, I was relieved to find what I needed because I put it off WAYYYYY too long!
We're off to the races! Have a great day.

I'm guessing Hubby has the snuffles and salt spray sinuses to match the chattering teeth. Still sounds like a cure he can live with though.
