(Cough, cough) (Hack, hack) ...in my head and throat.
What's with the cold season this year?! I caught a cold, possibly from my stepson or my sister, just after Elegante Mother's open house, early in December. I was laid low for two weeks, when I needed to be shopping, and wrapping gifts, and decorating the house. I finally began to perk up about a week before Christmas, as the cold began to ebb.
I had a couple of days free of coughing, and then the cold came back with a vengeance! I can't decide if the first cold went into hiding, or if I caught a second cold right after the first.
Saturday, December 30, and New Year's Eve, I spent some time in the office working on the filing system for 2007. I typed labels for the files, and removed the 2006 files that were ready to be stored. I made labels for the binders for 2007. I packed up the 2005 binders for storage, moved the 2006 binders to the bookcase, and set the new binders up in the hutch next to the computer. I have three banker's boxes of files to go to storage. This is all a first. I'd never have gotten all this done this early, if I hadn't been too sick to be up and about. A little typing and filing was the best I could do.
So....the Pollyanna in me would like to point out there's a bright side to life, but the Scrooge in me is saying (in a MUCH louder voice) "BAH HUMBUG!!"
Stay healthy! Avoid people like me who are coughing and hacking. Teach everyone you know to cough into the crook of their arm, and take your vitamin C on the off chance that it will help you dodge this cold!

So sorry that you are sick! The stomach flu is going around my office, but I am out on my foot injury again, so I am missing it and hope it's gone out of the building when I return for I won't have any leave time left to take.

Buffy,
I hear you loud and clear. Having one grandson with leukemia and another with asthma, we keep anti-bacterial soap in the kitchen and bathroom and wash our hands often. And yes, most people don't know that if you need to cough or sneeze, do it in the crook of your arm.
I also use my knuckle to press elevator buttons and use my arm to open doors or hips, you can never be too careful!
Hoping you get over that cold,,a hot bath, rum toddy, and lots of sleep will do you good! And a back rub!
Take care of yourself.,good wishes going your way.
Matty

You have my sympathy ~ the Diva and myself were deathly sick prior to us leaving for Christmas holidays. I was able to kick it, but the Diva seemed to get it back while at mama's. You must read my post (also more to come) about the trip from hell!!! The drive there and back ~ not the visit!!!

Susan, you lucked out! I'm so sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with your foot. My wish to your for the new year is that your foot heals, and you can go out dancing in 2007!

Matty, I like the idea of a hot toddy! *G*
You have a lot of reason to be careful about germs with leukemia and asthma in the family. In your case, I'd be using the anti-bacterial soap, too. I need to blog about the subject of germ avoidance, and I can see you know a LOT about it. Good health to you and yours in 2007!

Thanks for the "healing hugs," Joy. I appreciate the thought. Bod, I have some echinacea. I don't know why I didn't think about using it. Thanks for the reminder!

Jamie, I'm so sorry that you were ill. That trip had to be scary even if you were healthy. I'll have to read your blog. Did you get caught up in that snow? Is the Prissy Princess now the "Diva"???

Buffy, I'm sorry to hear of your cold. They are horrible and incredibly prevalent at this time of the yaer. It sounds as if you never really threw off the one you had before Christmas, so it lurked in the background until the New Year. At least it wasn't too bad over the Christmas festivities themselves.
I hope that yours is soon over.

Adele, I hope so, too! I think you're right about the original cold going into hiding for a bit. I'm really glad that I was better for the week of Christmas, but I wish even more than I had killed off the cold the first time around. It's possible that I need to be more physically active to burn this off. I suspect that leading exercise had a lot to do with my feeling better last time. Thanks, for your good wishes!

Jamie....the ice sounds like my worst nightmare. I bet your 17 year old felt he should have been given a chance to drive, too. I'm glad you made it home safely!
