Odd Weather

We have been having the oddest weather. For the past 21 days we have had weather that has been warmer than the norm. We had a GREEN Christmas! I can't recall the last time that happened. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be FIFTY degrees. I meant to plant some bulbs last fall. I have the space in mind, and the flowers should be gorgeous together, but the bulbs are still in the garage. Tomorrow, after exercise, I plan to get those bulbs in the ground!

The weatherman said that we can expect roughly ten more days of these above normal temperatures, based on what they can see to the north and west of us. We usually see two or three days toward the end of January where we have balmy days in the fifties or sixties. I bet we're below zero for those days! *G*

Dear Husband is not complaining about the weather. As far as he's concerned, I should stop tempting fate by talking about the weather. Of course, HE works outside. I can't really blame him for wanting the weather to stay warm.

One last plea.......Dear Lord, would you please not cover us with snow in April, May, and June to make up for this??

I'd share some of our snow with ya. :)

Buffy:

Janet, I think of you every time I marvel at our warm weather. Usually what ever you have, we get. I'm amazed that it's all landing on you, with nothing left over for the land to the east.

On the other hand, we have had so much precipitation that the retention ponds are just about ready to overflow onto our road. Maybe you need to keep that snow for us.

Will do I love it! Calling for more snow friday.

Joy:

I'm almost afraid to talk about it Buffy....this weather has been so unusual for this time of year. I'm secretly just waiting for some awful storm to hit us by surprise...when we are caught totally off guard. I'm not even going to think about it....fingers crossed.

I figure we didn't have a summer (very cold and cloudy - except for about 1 week) so no winter wouldn't surprise me. However, I'm betting we get hit in a couple of weeks.

Your ground is actually not frozen enough that you could still plant bulbs? It's supposed to warm up in a couple of days, but we just had a week of 20 degree weather (lows in the teens), so there would be no bulb planting here.

buffy:

Joy, I really hope that we don't suffer a boomerang effect on the weather and then get snowed in for the rest of the season. I can deal with moderation. I can even deal with a little hardship, but I pray that we don't get what they've been getting in Colorado!

buffy:

Bogie, I can't remember what this summer was like. I spent a LOT of it sitting in the office, waiting for my knee to heal.

I did get the bulbs planted. I'll have to blog about the experience later today. The ground was definitely NOT frozen, and it would have been a cinch except for..... Well, I'll blog about it! *G*

Adele:

It's incredibly mild for the time of year over here. I've just posted on my blog a picture I took today of an Iris in full flower. The weather is generally so mild. Over here Scotland and the North of England have had so much rain that there have been a lot of floods. The South-East of England and Est Anglia have generally had mild and dry weather. Guess which part of the UK suffered from drought last year and needs lots of rain now?!?

buffy:

Adele, I can't believe that you have iris in flower there! I'll have to visit your blog, I can see. We're just getting rain now, as I type. I think we are in for several wet days. Maybe it's a good thing that Dear Husband has a good-sized boat out back! :-)
