Weather

I'm more than a bit concerned. The weather forecast for our area is scattered severe thunderstorms from six this evening to midnight or later.

I wonder if the roofer will put more men on the roof today, or work later to get the roof done. Yesterday they tore off shingles and tar papered at least two thirds of the roof. We figure they will tear off the rest as they begin laying the shingles this morning.

I hope we beat the storms.

Cop Car:

Good luck in getting all of the tar paper down. Shingles are meant to protect the tar paper; but, unless there is a LOT of wind, the tarpaper might keep you from getting water in the upper story!

buffy:

Thanks, CC. The description of the possible storms was pretty bleak, but we may luck out and have the storms by-pass us. I'd think the tar paper should stay in place, with all the staples they used yesterday!

Oh! They're here! I didn't expect them for another half an hour. I can see I'm not the only one worried about the storm!

Adele:

How did you get on? Did you have any storms?

buffy:

They finished the stripping during the morning, and then seven of the guys shingled the roof in one afternoon. I was surprised that it was quieter than the stripping. They used the pneumatic hammers and just flew through the work. I called the City to have a roofing inspector come out. He should be here Thursday.

We were on the edge of the bad storms, and everything seems to be fine. We haven't noticed any leaks, and everything looks good. We'll wait to pay the roofer what we owe him until we pass the inspection.

Adele:

Good. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the inspector agrees it is OK today.

buffy:

I can't see any evidence that the inspector has been here in the last two days. The roof looks good. I'll try to get the pictures developed tomorrow so I can share them with you.

The roofer's boss came by today to run a check on the job and picked up a few things that had been left behind. I need to sweep the sidewalk and move the potted plants to the garage and we're all set.
