Decompressing....is that the term people use when you need to relax from a difficult day??
My day wasn't hard, but the NOISE....my god...the noise.....
I found it exceedingly difficult to concentrate. I was becoming short-tempered and churlish by the time the roofers were ready to go home. I've had about 30 minutes to recover, and I left the T.V. and radio off, and quietly blogged at my desk.
I think we'll be having wine with dinner tonight.
There's nothing I can do to avoid the situation. We need to get the roof done. I'll just arm myself with a list of things to do that don't require concentration and go at them full speed ahead. I think it's going to take them about two and a half days to finish.
The good thing is....they quit at 3:30!

Ah, you need a pair of noise-attenuating ear muffs--such as I wear when mowing. They really cut down the noise level and, when the noise isn't too bad, I can listen to the radio through them (they won't allow the radio+ambient noise to exceed 80-85 db.) They do get uncomfortable after about an hour, though, so then you would need to go lie down with a pillow over your head. *grinning* Sorry about your working/living conditions, Buffy.

We have a pair of those ear defenders. DH uses them when he mows. I'll get them out tomorrow and my niece and I can flip a coin to see who gets to wear them.
My brother bought my mother wireless headphones so that she could listen to her radio while they did the roof. Unfortunately, there is something wrong with the plug, so they're useless. I guess this is one of the few times her loss of hearing is a blessing.
I'll keep the pillows at the ready!
