Boat Widow 2005

Yup, it's that season again.

Two weeks ago, while Elegant Mother and I were in Iowa, Dear Husband took the boat to the boatyard and they craned it into Lake Michigan. He's spent the last two weekends getting the boat squared away.

Over the Memorial Day holiday he stayed overnight on the Arrr!! so that he could get an early start on his sailing. I was at home, piecing a quilt, and I kept an eye on the weather reports. Sunday it was gloomy out. We had heavy cloud cover and it looked threatening, but all the serious weather went south of us.

Dear Husband has replaced some of the pipes in the boat, and he missed out on some sailing when he made a run on West Marine for parts. Otherwise, he was a happy camper.

Mother and I had a pact not to cook while he was away. I dented that pact a bit, but we had light meals and we both worked on quilts.

When we re-shingle the roof this year, maybe I should have them put a wrought iron widow's walk up there....

What a super idea--a widow's walk. Think what fun you'd have peering down at your rhealm.

buffy:

I'd probably have to fight the raccoons for ownership! lol Otherwise, it's a great idea.

Can't ya just see the raccoons up there setting off fireworks??

Sounds like a good idea, but with a little deck for you to sit and relax on!

buffy:

and maybe a place to heat up a cup of tea......
