Meet Ninotchka.
She's the middle in age of three raccoon mommies who are living in our attic. One of these clever ladies ate her way through the roof, and the others, being no slouches, followed.
We were just about to evict them, when they gave birth. We are waiting for the day when we see tiny furry bodies milling around under the bird feeder.
Dear Husband has created a raccoon door, to allow the mommies access to their babies, while keeping the rain out. He's also slipped lightweight metal under the bottom row of shingles to prevent other holes. Once the babies are outside, we will repair the hole and have the entire roof re-shingled.
Enjoy it while you can, Notch. It's time for you to face the wilds of suburbia again!

What a cute photo, and how nice of you and DH to allow the babies time to leave the nest before evicting the families. You two are golden!

You think MUCH too highly of us, CC! We want those babies to be big and strong so that they can ALL find their way out of the attic. The Mommas are smart buggers....they've made their nests over the cathedral and pan ceilings where we can't reach them without going through the drywall.
I would have hired a trapper. I talked with one, but he would have had to destroy all of the animals, babies included. I'm glad it's a moot point, since he can't get to them.
We'll try to wait patiently until they can leave under their own steam, and THEN....no more raccoons!

Too cute. Buffy, I am so fond of people who make way for other families even when it is a bit of a bother and inconvenience. Kudos to your Hub. He is the sweetest and you can tell him I said so.

I hope the rain gives you a break, so that your visitors can enjoy the great outdoors! Watch for the possum early in the morning, or late in the day. That's when we tend to see them.

Heck! Back in the days when our town had a leash law applicable to cats, we had a house and (large!) cage in the back yard for our three cats. The possum(s) wandered in, any time of day, to share their meals. Of course, they came more frequently in the darkish hours.

I thought you had solved the racoon problem after last year's babies, but apparently they are more determined than you.
And people think my pets are spoiled - a raccoon door indeed!
