At last....Garden time!

I've had the chance to be out in my garden once this year, but tomorrow.....ah, tomorrow.....I'm going to have the entire morning out there.

I still have some clean up to do from last fall. I cleaned out about half of the garden at the sidewalk last week. I want to finish that work, so that the daffodils and tulips will be able to look their best this spring.

I was checking out the herb garden this afternoon. I need to cut back chives, feverfew, oregano and yarrow. There are two chrysanthemums in that garden that need to be pruned, along with the winter savory, the sage, and a clematis that climbs an arbor at the end of the garden.

I need to walk the grounds to pick up downed branches, and the veggie garden needs to have compost added. I've been thinking that I'd like to layer compost and mulch on the ornamental gardens, too, and this would be good weather to get started on that project.

By the end of this week, I'll need to get my catalog orders placed for plants that are difficult to find here. One of my suppliers has stopped carrying one of my favorite plants, Verbena 'Homestead Purple." Luckily, I found it on-line.

I'll have to share pictures of the gardens as they mature. Perhaps then you'll be able to understand my need to play in the dirt.

Oh, do share photos, Buffy. It'll inspire the rest of us in our gardening. Of course, the trees are leafing out here, and I've not done significant gardening, yet. I want to give my knee one more week.

Sorry to be of no help on the camera. Surely one of your other readers can be of help.

Anxiously awaiting your pictures. Get a camera that you can shoot close ups with.

No leaves, forsythia or magnolia here, but lots of perennials have begun to show, and both tulips and daffodils are up. The only color is from crocus.

I really need that camera!

Cop Car:

The ornamental pears are at the peak of their glory (well, a few have been shedding petals), the star magnolias and forsythia are about done. The red buds are just showing promise--of blooming a couple of weeks early (they usually are just into full bloom by our frost free date--April 20). Irises are getting there!

Ohhhhhhhhhh MAN! I am green with envy. We are so far behind you! I think Red Bud may be my favorite specimen tree. My parents managed to grow one where I was raised. I'm waiting to see if the little starts you brought me last fall have made it through the winter.
