To Gather or Not To Gather

Usually this time of year I am running around trying to put my house into order, so that we can host my family for Easter Dinner. I try to get to my Spring cleaning early, and we work out how many tables to set up and decorate.

This year, it seems that we may all go to our separate corners for the day. Normally we have 30 to 35 people here, but I sense the younger generation would like to be making their own choices rather than arranging to celebrate where their parents gather.

It seems odd, after fifteen years, to be planning a small meal. Dear Husband's children have chosen not to blend into my family. When it became apparent that my family would not be here, we asked his children if they wanted to join us. One of his sons is in Florida, and one will be in Seattle for the week. That leaves one son and one daughter and their families. I don't think it's going to happen though. DH's daughter and her family have just moved to a new home. I bet they will want to have Easter dinner there.

So....we're free! Think of all the opportunities open to us. I only hope that no one turns to us three days before Easter and says "What time is dinner??"

Cop Car:

Did I forget to tell you that we planned to be there? (What time's dinner?) You are so good at sensing what your loved ones want. Congratulations!

Wouldn't this be a good opportunity for you to have one holiday meal out--or to get something that you don't have to "cook" for that meal?

You know....I'd LOVE to have you join us for a holiday meal....or any meal, for that matter! (Just not THIS holiday.)

Dear Husband is thinking along those same lines. He actually suggested that we consider our favorite Cajun restaurant for Easter, and that sounds really good to me. If the other options don't work out, I'll be having crawfish, and creme brulee!

I'll have to tell him that the two of you are really in tune. *S*

That's the way to go - let someone else do the cooking and clean up the mess!

Where will you have Easter dinner, Bogie?? Do you have a favorite cusine?

Heck, I'm not even sure when Easter is - it is just another day to us.

Let's se, Easter is on a Sunday, so that means one of us will be making some sort of meal for dinner. If it was on a Friday or Saturday, there would be a slight chance of us going out to either the local Italian or Chinese eatery (very slight, we rarely go out to eat).

My step-daughter offered to have us, but they are just getting settled into a new home. She offered pizza, and I couldn't reconcile it with years of family celebrations and traditions.
