The rain has moved in. It's been gray all day, and was misting as we came home from errands around noon. The sky darkened through out the afternoon, and around 4:00 I realized that it was raining. We should have rain off and on into the weekend. It was 60 degrees today, but by Sunday, we should be down into the low 40s.
As we drove home, we passed the last of the corn fields to be harvested. The resident Canada geese were gleaning the fields. The farmer had made his first pass over the field, leaving roughly the bottom 12 inches of the stalks behind. Eventually he will disk the crop and turn it under, but for now you see a rough stubble. The bodies of the geese were hidden by the stubble, but you could see their necks sticking up out of the field. There were so many geese it looked like the farmer had planted another fast growing crop.
I've determined that there are six areas that need a bit of work before we get to Thanksgiving. And, golly gee!!...there are six days left before Thanksgiving! Actually, Saturday is going to be wiped out with family activity, so we may have to double or triple up on Sunday, but I think we can get it all done. The area around my computer has to be organized. I have a milk crate of herb magazines and stuff for a group I moderate that needs to find a new home. There's an area under the desk in our bedroom that has that same problem. I thought I had the garage organized, but Dear Husband came along and changed the plan. If we fold his sails and move the sails and some boat accessories to the basement, we could move the things that are currently sitting at the back door. THEN, we could move the wood that he plunked down in the space I had made for bird seed. *G* It's always something. The mudroom closet is so full that we can't close it. We'll have to work on that together. And the last problem is the easiest....there's a row of stuff sitting in front of the shelves of quilting fabric that I need to find homes for.
I think it's doable. It depends somewhat on Dear Husband, and the weather. If I have to spend a day on the gardens before Thanksgiving, either he'll have to help, or I'll have to readjust my plans. No matter what, Thanksgiving will be lovely.
I hope all of you are ready to celebrate!

I cannot imagine anything at your home being less than lovely, Buffy. It's the attitude that does it. Being around your, your Dear Husband, and your Elegant Mother should make any gathering lovely. Enjoy it all!

I saw either a huge flock, or several flocks of geese together in a corn field on Thursday. The farmer had cleaned up the stalks, so the geese were easy to see. There were several hundred of the birds picking for leftovers just next to the road.

I think the farmers tend to transfer the grain from the combines into trucks at the edges of the fields. It must be easy pickin's for the geese, where some of the grain has been spilled. We occasionally see them through out the field, but more often it's at the edge, just as you saw them, Bogie.

Boy, Buffy, I assume that your home must be in immaculate condition...seems you are always tidying.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Jamaica. Our big thing is Christmas.
I hope you have a good Thanksgiving and that the weather is not too cold.

It seems that way to me, too, Doc. It's that old joke....either we are very dirty or very clean.
I love having my family here for Thanksgiving. They've tried to encourage me to serve on paper plates, but I'd hate to loose the opportunity to use the family china. So....we do a lot of cleaning, and re-cleaning, and cleaning up.
Sorry, hon.....right now it's the story of my life. One day, maybe I'll be writing about sitting at the computer with a VX instead! *G*
