I was cleaning shelves in my clothes closet on Sunday. We have one of those closet organizer systems, and the shelf on the top seems to be a tiny bit short. It rests on pegs that you can use to change the height of the shelf, and every now and then, if you touch it just right, it will slide off the pegs, and dump everything on you.
Well, on Sunday, it did just that. Everything slid past me and hit the floor as I grabbed for the shelf. Everything landed safely except for a bottle of Eucalyptus essential oil. The bottle is tiny, but the oil packs a punch. Some of it spilled across the back end of two pairs of slides, and some of it dripped onto, and into the carpet.
Dear Husband opened the skylights and left them open for a full 24 hours! I had to close the door between the dressing area and our bedroom or we would have been heating the entire outdoors. Even with all the airing, it barely resolved the issue.
Ladies on my herb group suggested that I rub baking soda on the carpet, and then vacuum it up. With repetitions, the scent might fade a bit. It's worth a try. I've started the treatment.
I figure that I might have a new way to keep mice away, and I KNOW that I won't have to worry about flies or moths this winter. Of course, we may have to fight off the koalas!

And you won't have trouble with horse flies! Years ago (about 1966), I went to a "spa" with a neighbor one day. This was in the days when there was a little workout involved in going to a spa, but it was mostly frou frou and sauna. I made the mistake of saying that the sauna smelled like a cow barn (Eucalyptus)! Christine laughingly told me that that would be my last visit to a spa with her. (And it was-- since I saw no point in repeating the adventure.)

Eucalyptus is great for warding off colds too, so there may be a happy end to this tale!

The salon where we have our hair done has a day spa attached to it. It's been luring me over for eyebrow waxing, and I've had ONE massage....but I think that's the end of it. My monthly pedicure is about as frou frou as I care to get, and I'm careful not to tell them their joint stinks! lol
BW...that was why I got the essential oil in the first place. I put a little of it on coarse salt in a dish on my sewing table, thinking it was a gentle therapy that might just help the sinuses. This is a bit much, but I'll try to think of it positively, since there is little else I can do.

Tell that to Dear Husband, Doc. He's still got a stuffy head in the morning. My mother thinks he should have his head examined....but that is a pun that belongs in another entry! lol

Joe, you are SUCH a bearer of good tidings! *G*
Try rubbing baking soda into the spill and then vacuuming it up. You might have to repeat the treatment, but if it helps, it's worth it!
