Well, not intentionally. Just busy, I guess. So, I'll bring you up to date on what's been happening in my life.
Let's see....tonight I saw Harry Potter. I'd like to say I was the first on my block to see it, but last Friday at quilting bee, I asked if anyone had seen it, and one of them had gone to the midnight premier. She said that the audience was mostly comprised of college students and kids in their late teens, and the entire audience was silent and absorbed in the movie. I was surprised to find places where I laughed out loud! The movie is darker than the first two, and the kids are obviously growing up, but still suited to their roles. One review I read said the first two movies are from the muggle point of view, and this one is from the wizzard's point of view.
I spent the day Sunday trying to get all my plants into the ground. I still have herbs to plant, and I've lost four or five of them due to the wait and heat. I'll have to water tomorrow morning if we don't have any rain tonight. I finally planted tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini. I have a yellow miniature pear shaped tomato in a container, but I think it needs to be put into the ground. I wonder if I could slip it into the flower garden somewhere.....
Dear Husband is off paying his dues. My niece and her husband have helped him put the Arr!! into Lake Michigan for the last three years, so tonight he is lending a hand putting up drywall in their new old house. When I sent the e-mail, offering his time, I suggested it was just because he hoped to have a great dinner at an Italian place near their home. *G*
I have some new software for label making for my quilts. Today I discovered that I have FOUR labels I need to make right away...two for finished quilts for my nephews, and two for unfinished quilts for a great nephew and my new grand child. Once I figure out how to size the pictures, the lables will take me just an hour or two to crank out. The value of a quilt increases when you put the name of the recipient, the maker, and the date and location on the label. I hope to add baby pictures, and a message from their aunt/gramma. What might take me the longest is drafting a message, or finding a poem to include. We have a scanner for the pictures, and you can use an inkjet printer to print color labels on fabric that's been specially prepared.
I FINALLY bought new exercise shoes today. I tried on about a dozen pairs of New Balance before I found a running shoe that gave me a comfortable fit, and a large enough toe box. I wear orthotics to avoid plantar fasciia problems, and they take up more room in the shoe than you would think. I understand that some people actually replace their shoes every three months or so. I've been meaning to do this for a couple of years. No wonder my toes have been unhappy campers!
The iris and peonies and lilacs, dame's rocket and oxeye daisies are now gone. The coreopsis is in full bloom and the roses have bloomed. The lavender will be in bloom soon. I plan to harvest the roses and lavender for potpourri, and hope my nieces will help me with it.
Defer is refusing most of the food we've offered in the past few days. I was tempting him with hamburger until he decided that he wouldn't eat because I was slipping his pills into the meat. Then I switched to chicken. He's eating so little, that I don't see how he can exist.....so perhaps his time with us is almost over. How odd that I came to love him more when he was frail and needy.
So....life is sweet and bittersweet. I hope you're all enjoying summer...

Poor Defer. I've missed reading about your activities, but it's easy to understand that in the fray of things blogging must be put off. You are so ahead of me on your miniature yellow pear tomato! I just found some seeds from last year's miniatures a couple of days ago and poked them into the ground between an iris bed and the crepe myrtle bushes. Golly Moses, but you are prolific on the quilts. Go, go, go!

Seems everybody is busy Buffy. Comments are way down. I have been up to a lot of around the home stuff as well, in addition to work.

My roses and irises are just starting to bloom - the peonies are way down the road. It's great to hear about stuff blooming in other areas that I can look forward to later in the season!
I hope when Defer's time is over, that he goes gently.

Hi Buffy! Nice little update. I've been up to lots too recently, so this is the first I have checked anybody's site in awhile! Sorry to hear about Defer...

How NICE to hear from all of you! Thanks for stopping by!
CopCar, I still need to move that pear tomato to a larger container.
Bogie, I wish our iris were still in bloom. They were amazing this year, and the last to bloom is the most majestic....a tall, stately, deep purple. This was the first year it bloomed, and it was WELL worth the wait.
Dr. D....it takes a lot to maintain a home. I can imagine all you had to do.
Billy, watch out for the MINT! lol
MadBull...I hope everything is okay. Nice to see you.
