We were listening to the news on T.V. this evening. At the close of the national news on ABC the announcer said something cryptic about the Seattle Men's Chorus succumbing to AIDS. I thought I had missunderstood what he'd said, and asked DH to repeat it for me. It didn't make any more sense the second time around, so I went on-line to surf for information about the Seattle Men's Chorus.
It seems that most major cities host a Men's Chorus, and those groups are predominantly gay. The Seattle group is giving an incredible concert featuring Frederica von Stade, Tom Jones, the Count Basie Orchestra, and Pearl Django, in honor of the one hundred men it has lost to AIDS.
I can't tell you the exact statistics, but I assume that those hundred members have been lost over a period of twenty years. This concert should be quite a tribute to those men.
