And the Moon on the Crest of the New Fallen Snow...

Actually, there doesn't seem to be much of a moon tonight. Perhaps it hasn't risen yet. But it's amazing how bright it is outside. When I turn off the lights in the living room this evening, I'll have a clear view of everything outside due to the city light reflected off the snow. I should be able to see if the deer are passing through, looking for sunflower seed or ear corn.

Tonight will be the last night of our Christmas tree. I should have taken it down this morning, but I held out for one more day. A Scottish friend pointed out to me that I should leave it up until January 5th, which would be the twelfth day of Christmas. Sounds good to me.....I hate to see it go. One lamp is providing a pool of light over my keyboard, and the rest of the room is dark so that I can enjoy the tiny colored lights that cover the tree.

This was a beautiful tree. I mourn that we cut down a living tree to decorate the house. I think it's time to consider an artificial tree for future Christmases.

And with that....it's time to call it a night. Sleep well!

I wonder if I could employ you to take my tree down for me? I have already stopped plugging it in but can't say when it will come down.

Snow reflecting city lighting.....I have never seen that but it sounds nice.

PJ:

We finally moved to artificial trees when we moved into our current abode...of course, we often have three trees set up. (miss penny took down the tree this past weekend)..i decided that i just couldn't bear to spend all that cash - especially when you dont even get fire wood out of them!

sounds like a beautiful night...but you can keep the snow, i'm allergic to the cold white stuff myself...

Doc, I don't even have MY trees down yet, and it's the 7th. I suppose tomorrow is the day. We took the ornaments off last night. I planned to take the lights off tonight, but I've been enjoying them for one last evening.

PJ, we had three trees here, too. Each year I've talked with Dear Husband about getting an artificial tree. We could have it up so much longer, it wouldn't bother his allergies, and I could probably leave the lights on it. But, DH has wanted the real trees. But we're close.....very close to the fake ones.

We got to do the Alaska trip two summers ago, and I saw a homely little fake Sitka Spruce at Hobby Lobby. It reminded me of our trip, so I bought it for the dining room. Now that we have one, the artificial trees have a toe hold. It won't be long now. :-)
