Postcards

Have you noticed an increase in the number of postcards you've been receiving from businesses? The other day I received a postcard that had our last name printed across it in nine fonts, four directions and three colors. It certainly got my attention, and I set it aside, rather than throwing it out. It was from the woman who had helped us to refinance, reminding us that her bank has other services to offer.

It seems that postcards are the newest trend in advertising. They can be sent to new prospects, current customers, or past clients, and are a comparatively inexpensive way to keep your name in the public eye.

I've received postcards from Service Master, letting me know about specials on carpet cleaning, and I get one annually from the Sandwich Antique Market promoters, listing the dates of the markets. I've also received postcards from the Cancer Fund and Purple Heart Veterans, reminding me of pick-up dates.

Postcards are economical. You don't have to pay for an envelope, or extra printing, and you minimize labor costs. Your message is absorbed immediately, and many people keep postcards handy. If your postcards are humorous, or if you have a series you are sending, you might find them on bulletin boards when you visit your customers.

Have you received a memorable postcard from a business??

I once received a postcard from the gyno listing the gamut of services they provide: pelvic exam, pap smear, mammogram, ect... with pap smear checked off- as in, I was due for one. What do you think about that? (It inspired me to get that exam- from another doctor).

Ewwwww....I don't THINK so! Nothing like announcing your personal info to the world at large. I think that's one example that needs to go into the round file!

LOL... from the Gyne? I haven't seen the likes. I have, however, noticed that there is more advertising in the form of postcards. It is a good size and way of advertising.

Oh... I get a postcard from the vet with reminders when my dogs are due for shots, I DO like that idea... I post it by the phone till I make the call.

I agree Desiree. I don't mind having my pet's reminders sent by postcard, just mine! *G*
