Ewwwwwww!!

Dear Husband is watching a program on MSNBC called the Ultimate Explorer. The program is discussing the rangers and climbers at Denali in Alaska. I looked up in time, the first time, to see a helicopter carrying off the splayed, frozen bodies of climbers, who were stranded and died.

The program discusses what the rangers must do to bring down climbers who have been rash in their expectations. They risk their lives to help people who have not prepared properly, who try to take the climb too fast, or who are hurt, or who fall into crevasses. Frequently it takes teams of four or more to bring down one person.

I wish I hadn't looked up the second time, either. They showed climbers taking off their gloves to show frostbitten finger tips. I didn't know that you don't need to bandage them unless they burst. (akkkkkkkkk!)

I don't get mountain climbing. I don't get braving the wilds or daring Mother Nature. I don't get working where the wind and cold can take your life in a matter of hours, and most of all.....I don't get choosing a job where there isn't even a porta potty!

I understand wanting to be near all that beauty, and wanting to be one with God. But, if I had my druthers, I could wait to be one with God. I'll look at pictures, watch MSNBC, buy paintings and be a couch climber. I'm happy to reassure those hardworking rangers that they won't ever have to rescue me!

...hehehehehehe...which is why I like disney world so much - over in animal kingdom you can go on safari etc. and there is always a toilet within 500m that isn't full of spiders and snakes :^)...

Caught a recent program of "Cops" and they were pulling victims of a boating accident out of the water. Man, were they stiff. Yuck.
