At LAST!

The Arr!! has returned home for the winter. Friday night, Dear Husband went to Chicago to spend the night on the boat. He left the truck and trailer at the boatyard and then took his first EL ride to get to the boat. That alone was an experience. It seems the train didn't stop at his stop the first time around. He stayed on and did the entire trip around the Loop to get to his stop.

Neither of us have ever ridden an elevated train, so it follows that we've never purchased a ticket, either. DH put a $20 bill into the dispenser for a $1.50 fare, thinking he would get change. Instead, he got a little credit card worth $20 of rides! I'm going to make him take me to Chicago to ride the EL and go Christmas shopping. That's going to be one expensive elevated trip! lol

The plan was to rise early, motor over to have the mast stepped, and then breeze down the river ahead of the flotilla. I thought he would be on his way home by noon, and that we'd see him by 1:30 or so. By 2:30 I was worrying, and by 3:30 I was getting ticked! I got up to call him, and discovered the boat was in the back yard, settled for the year.

It seems DH left his phone in the boat bag on the boat, and he couldn't call me to ask for help backing into the drive. He told me that it took three tries to get it lined up, and all the while our ditzy neighbors were driving around him, rather than waiting for him to be out of their way.

We have a LONG tree lined drive with a dogleg bend in it. And there is a second curve of sorts at the north corner of the house. He managed to back up a 32 foot boat hooked to a 14 foot stake bed truck without any assistance. I need to enter him in one of those driving rodeos, for sure!

At any rate.....the Arr!! is home. Now maybe I'll see DH from time to time! *S*
