Stores

I think there's a gene missing in my body.....the shopping gene. I don't like to shop. Well, let me rephrase that.....there's a lot of stuff I don't like to have to shop for.

There are a few exceptions to the rule, though. I'll visit ANY quilt shop. Those are the specialized shops which sell fabric and tools to quilters. I need to have a bumper sticker that says "I Brake for Quilt Shops." Actually, I probably shop for fabric four to six times a year, but if I got out of the house more often, I'd make it a daily thing.

My next favorite kind of place is a home decorating shop. I need to buy stock in Crate and Barrel, and Restoration Hardware is calling to me as I write. I've been afraid to visit the Expo Design centers that are part of the Home Depot family, because I figure they'll never get me out the door.

Home Depot....THERE'S another. I used to shop with my Dad when he went to the lumber yard. I remember that building. It was long and narrow, with a loading lane in the center and lumber stored on either side. It was dark, and cool on a summer day because the sun only reached in the first few feet. Home Depot is a lot different, but I could happily browse the aisles all day long. They've missed a bet though. They need a snack bar or a cafe, like Border's Books.

Oh....there's another. Books, what would I do without books?? Border's is my favorite bookstore, when I have money to burn. I visit the library each month, but I love owning my own books. We built extra bookshelves into the house plan, and there is still not enough space for them all. Twice a year, sometimes more, I'll go through and collect books to donate to the library, to make room for more books! I'm going to have to break this habit, and soon, or I'll have to take up a collection so I can retire.

For DH, it's West Marine, or Crowley's Boatyard, or ANY boating store, I think.
For Mother, I suspect it's clothing stores like Field's or Nordstrom's. What store gladdens your heart?

...bookshops, comicshops and music stores can take hours off my life - I often discover carolyn sat on the floor crying...a shop I found in florida (dunno if it is statewide) hot topic...and sawgrass (sp?) shopping mall...change the question to 'where would you max-out your credit card' and it would have to be amazon :^)..

oh yeah.....too true! It's worse now that it's not just books.

Any store that sells stereo equipment....Brands Mart! Pet shops...the fish department, Ross (which I call Rass):-) And last but by no means least...The Bostonian Shoe Store in Broward Mall. They actually know me by first name!

Oh, I almost forgot...any decent duty free shop that sells nice pens. I collect them (no Bic or Miler for this Doc.)..Cross, Parker, Sheaffer, and my most recent addition...a Mont Blanc...(it was a gift!) Now you know what to buy for my 40th birthday next month and you have ample time to shop!

It was "Staples" and office equipment and computer stores that used to be hard for me to avoid. I wasn't into shopping in my single days so much, but now, there are times I want to just go and spend. I was out for groceries today (Superstore) and when out I spent a plenty, but would have loved to add to my groceries a lovely coffee table for the deck. There was this nice iron table with a wood top, so suited to the deck! I avoided it, but have this need to get hubby in there for a look yet!

With house rennos nearing a finish I am wanting to buy more furniture... funny that new walls make one crave new furniture!

Books and, well, books. That's about it.

Yes, Desiree....I understand that need to be furniture shopping. We've made do with an assortment of hand me downs in our living room, but we have an exceptional Antique Fair that calls to me. I'd like to replace some of what we have gradually, until we end up with mostly antique pieces and two new chairs. Good luck resisting the urge to shop! *G*

Bogie...we have a lot in common. Now, if only I understood a THING about the computer.....

Book Stores
Liquor Stores
Record Stores (Are they "CD Stores" now?)
Musical Instrument Stores.

Home Depot. Not for me. I would rather walk around barefoot on broken glass!

Jim, my favorite liquor store right now is a chain in the Chicago area called "Binney's." They've just added a deli, so I need to go visit and look for the Gato Negro that Doc recommended.

I left off CD stores, too. That was a major oversight. I need to make it big in the lottery so that I can feed my CD habit. I'm on a jazz kick now, mostly oldies. I discovered that Pob likes "Django," so I have to get to know him better.

Tell me what kind of musical instruments you shop for, won't you? I'm not allowed in those stores now, so I feed my habit buying how-to books for alto recorder.
