Hair styling for Men

My newspaper brought me the information that businessmen in Chicago feel that they need an edge. A number of them are finding it by having a third of their gray removed.

Would I lie to you?

In the Chicago Tribune "Q" section for Sunday, August 10, you can find these tips to move you ahead....

Get your hair cut and colored at the same time (Makes sense.....one stop shopping.) You can figure that the cost for the coloring will be $50-$65 in addition to the cut.

Semi-permanent color lasts 8-12 shampoos. If you swim in chlorinated pools it will last half as long. (Why bother to get it done??) Wear a hat outdoors, use a styling product with sunscreen (I didn't even know they existed), and use a gentle shampoo.

Give your hair colorist a few tries to get the color right for you.

Consider adding streaks of highlights to compliment your base hair color.

Wow....I wonder if DH is missing out on a bet. As an officer of a corporation, maybe he needs to be worrying about his gray. Of course, after a day of playing in the mortar and brick dust, I don't think the gray matters much. It's just as well....he'd have to give up his beloved Prell!

I keep my hair cut short enough that you can't see the gray. Works for me.

...errr, I have highlights in my hair :^)...I find that when my hair is 'dark' so is my mood - the lighter my hair, the lighter my mood...blonds *are* more fun :^)...

Well, I saw an article in our newspaper here today, referring to the cosmopolitan male of today who is into facials, having nails done etc. as 'metrosexual'. I guess they have a term for everything nowadays.

I am about 35 to 40% grey...rather silver-white, at almost 40 (next month), never done a damn thing to them. In fact, they sparkle in the light at nights. I guess if I were living in your neck of the woods I would have to add a little colour??

..here in jolly olde england the 'in' thing for men is 'waxing' their body hair off...the actual expression is "back, crack and sack"...as someone who can't pull a sticking plaster (band-aid?) off it is a grooming event I intend to avoid :^)...not that I am 'an hairy man' :^)...

That's it, Hook....HIDE IT!

Doc, I saw that article on metrosexuals. I'm sure it's guys who fit that term who are having their gray lightened. I'd say that most suburban and rural men leave their hair color alone. It's not unusual for teenage boys to bleach part of their hair with peroxide, but most adults in the Midwest are pretty staid. Your gray sounds gorgeous. Fred's is coming in silver, and it's quite handsome against his Mediterranean coloring.
I was contemplating checking to see how much gray I have now, and my hairdresser was horrified! I envy those of you who go gray beautifully.

BILLY!!! TMI! gawd....that sounds SOooooooooo painful! What the heck is wrong with a hairy man??

...you aren't asking me to comment about 'an' hairy man and their likeability are you? - 'cos I don't really have an opinion :^)...tmi? tmi?? - tomorrow's mission impossible?...this makes itchiness??...terrifyingly mind imploding???...ah, you hip-young-dudette with your tmnt and tights-wearing-hubby next you'll be posting in rap :^)...ttfn :^)...
