Fighting Sleep

Tonight, my quiilting bee meets. I’m just about ready for them. I have some of my Halloween decorations up, and candy corn to put out as treats. There are candles to be lit, and dishes to ready for dessert.
I really need to cut out some pieces for a pumpkin applique that I started the last time we met. THEY would have finished it that night….and I’m still futzing around with it a month later. I love the look of applique, I just don’t like to do it, and all but one of this group are experts at applique! Just my luck.
The only problem is, I can’t keep my head up. I was working in the office until almost one o’clock last night, and now the need to catch up on my sleep is overwhelming. If I get up and move around, I bet I can catch my second wind.

Later….after getting a glass of iced tea…
I have a pillow sitting on my mantle that is purely for decoration. It’s a very country looking applique of three black crows that says “Old Crows Gather Here.” I wonder if anyone in my bee will take offense! lol
There were several oddities I heard on the radio as I made my trip last week.
Did you know that dogs can sniff out cancer? The problem it seems, is how to communicate with them about what they’ve found.
And…there is one mushroom in Switzerland that covers half a mile. I wonder what they’ve been feeding it?
Recently the State of Illinois announced that pot luck dinners would be governed by the Illinois Department of Health. They could be fined if food was not prepared and served according to Illinois code. That raised such a ruckus that the guidelines have been modified to exempt potlucks not held in a public place, and pot lucks which don’t charge a fee or do fund raising. So…..we can have a potluck dinner in a church, but not a school, but we can’t have a potluck as a fund raiser. I’d say the state is pretty desperate to mess with an institution like the potluck dinner. Jerks!
Okay….that’s it for the news nuggets at the moment.
