ok, I know the page has been blank a few days, so sue me (you won't get far, as I'm one broke lesbian! :lol)
where to start....
Last Thursday, as most people know was thanksgiving...we celebrated by going over to M's mom's house, eating entirely to much, bringing home 1/2 of the leftovers, and going to see our friend D, who we hadn't seen much lately. (ok, at ALL...she's been starting a new business and is harder to get ahold of than we are)

Friday, some of us had to work (namely ME) Ran had gone to her moms for another turkey day dinner, and then on to work...so we met up with our dear friend who moved 1/2 way across the state :cry and her girlfriend for dinner at E Street. More good food, good conversation, what more could you ask for? (except for her to move her as back to Jax...and you knew I would say that!)
afterwards, it's back over to D's house to pick up a couple things, hang out some more, and head back home, since the next day it's my lovely wife's turn to work.

Sunday...she decides that now that it's after thanksgiving, it's time to start decorating the house...ok...I'm a scrooge, but if you want to then by all means, more power to you (although, I am in the mood for my usual holiday baking, which is better than the last 2 years)
well, she started...from the looks of the living room, it might be 2006 before she gets done though! :scared

**warning, geek speak ahead, feel free to leave an opinion or if you know of something I haven't looked at (or comments on what I have)**

I've been on a mission lately...
My mission is, I've been wanting to get away from MT for some time now...I think it's outrageous the prices they want to charge to continue to have a multi-user/multi-blog setup.
Don't get me wrong, if they had started out that way, I wouldn't have an issue with it...even when it was a free version I still made a donation because I thought it was a worthwhile project, and I wanted to support it, but they've gotten a tad big for their britches IMHO.
So I've been looking around at other options...who knew how many there were out there!! My main problem is finding one that has the features I want, at a free and/or cheap price tag.
I also, have my users to consider...the ones who, without them...well, redeaglespirit.com wouldn't be what it is today...I'd like to have something that will give them a bit more flexibility if they want it, but still be easy enough for the ones that just want a place to write their thoughts to be able to do that, without a lot of complications.

a short (kinda) list of what I would like to be able to give them

1. the option for 'skins' without me having to hack multiple files.
2. the option to choose their own look, I could have several templates set up and they could pick the one they would like to use, (but still have the option of using a custom one)
3. creating pages...for the ones who want more than 'just a blog', much like WordPress's page feature.
4. plugin manageability. or say Jet wants to be able to show her mood on her blog, yet Buffy doesn't...Buffy would have the ability to leave that plugin off while Jet could enable it on hers if she so desired.
5. ease of use. I cannot stress this one enough. I host a lot of blogs on here (19 20 to be exact, (yes, I set up another one this morning) no, you don't know where all of them are! :lol ) and some of them are for...shall we say...'technically challenged' people (my wife is one of them, so no offense intended there!) I need something that they will be able to use with ease...or they won't use it (and the blogging community would lose some great writers IMHO)
6. CMS, to understand what I want with this, take a look at the home page. I want something that will allow me to do this, without interfering with the rest of the operation! (and preferably without having to hack it to death like I did that page)
7. not required, but I would like to have people be able to 'hide' posts...password protect or registered users only...something like that...so they don't have to worry if someone (ie: family member you're bashing, your boss, etc...) stumbles upon your blog...or worse yet, just stop posting because you're afraid of who's reading it!

this week...has been a week from hell!
there's really nothing 'specific' I can point to that made it that way for me...
Monday was about the same as usual at my job...extremely busy, but that makes it go by faster...seems like there were more mistakes that people didn't catch that we had to, and therefore had to fix.
Tuesday was more of the same...plus we discovered two people got overpaid, one was not an issue, but the second one it's going to take a bit more doing to fix the problem.
Wed. I don't think the phone quit ringing all day...of course it was with issues that people wanted fixed for this payday, but we wrap things up and transmit in the morning...they all know this...any and all changes have to be in BEFORE that :shakehead
Thursday it just seemed like everyone had an attitude, plus finding out that the problem we thought we fixed Tuesday wasn't fixed, and actually caused other issues :brick
and Friday...umm..can I get a do-over on Friday? one whole division's direct deposits didn't go through...this wouldn't normally be a big deal, except that it was a manager pay week, so it affected A LOT more people :hammer and none of them were very happy about it! plus the fact that the people that process our payroll outright lied to us about what was going on...it was a very stressful day, to top off a very stressful week.
but the good news..is my wife did a little shift changing, and so has all of tomorrow off, which will be the first day we've gotten the ENTIRE day together in quite some time!! :flames
