Don’t you just love being a homeowner?
\nWe’ve known for a year or so that we needed to re-shingle the roof. I can’t tell you why we stalled, but we are well past the time when it HAS to be done. The weather was so hot this year that the shingles have deteriorated, and it’s not safe to be on the roof now.<\/p>\n
\nWe have three of the four proposals in our hands. As soon as we choose our roofer, I have to go to the city to get a permit to re-roof, and then we’ll start the work as soon as they can.
\nI know that my gardens along the front sidewalk are going to take a hit. I plan to cut back the ornamental grass before they start stripping the roof. I expect them to protect about half the plants in the garden. I’ll move all the containers out of the way, but some things simply have to be protected. In their favor, it seems that they are prepared to work with me.
\nWhile we’ve been getting ready for the roof, we’ve had several other things need attention. We have a new hot water heater, and the condenser for the air conditioner has been fixed so that it drains properly. The plumber is bringing a new fan motor for the air conditioner tomorrow, and we’ll be able to see if the unit works. I think we have to have a new motor put into the attic fan, too.
\nLet’s see…..the drier needed a new coil, and the car had to have new brakes, front and back. The worst thing about doing all these repairs at one time, is that they probably will all have to be done again at the same time.
