{"id":728,"date":"2005-04-13T15:50:44","date_gmt":"2005-04-13T22:50:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/green\/"},"modified":"2005-04-13T15:50:44","modified_gmt":"2005-04-13T22:50:44","slug":"green","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/green\/","title":{"rendered":"GREEN!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"scan0004.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/archives\/scan0004.jpg\" width=\"504\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nI know that technically, Spring arrived in March, but it must have gotten sidetracked in the Chicago area, because it made its first appearance yesterday.<br \/>\nLast week we had temperatures that were increasingly warmer until we hit the seventies over the weekend, and then yesterday we had our first full day of gentle rain and cooler temperatures, and everything BURST into leaf.<br \/>\nThe honeysuckle has leafed out, and the volunteer garlic chives at the base of the herb garden timbers must be easily six to eight inches tall.  The star magnolia is in full show and the forsythia is a fountain of gold just beyond it.<br \/>\nAbout eight or ten years ago I planted a dozen orangy red Darwin hybrid tulips near the front door and their color is gorgeous!  They are the first of the tulips to open every year, and the only tulips to have made it through dinner hour for the chipmunks.  Either I planted them in a wire box, or there&#8217;s something about their bulb that the chippies don&#8217;t care for.<br \/>\nThe Ice Follies daffodils in the picture are just beginning to fade.
