We evicted them one night last year. Dear Husband waited until they were all outside, feeding, and then put a patch over the opening in the soffit where they were coming and going. We’d had to wait until the babies were old enough to leave their nest to feed, but we wanted to be sure it was closed up before any of the females decided to have another flock.
\nSo….the last two or three weeks I’ve been hearing odd noises in the house at night.<\/p>\n

\nFor a while I thought it was my imagination. I could hear bumps and knocks, and I tried to pass it off as the house cooling for the evening. Or, perhaps the mice were rowdy.
\nThis afternoon, I returned home and DH was working outside. I asked what he was up to, and he said that he’d found a hole in the roof, and he thought the raccoons had eaten their way into the attic. (That accounts for the noises lately!) Of course, my first question was: “Has the rain damaged the dry wall?” It appears the the wall of our bedroom, and where that wall meets the living room are okay, but water seeping in has damaged the soffit. It will take some repairs, but first we’ll have to wait for the raccoons to leave the attic for dinner. Then DH can add a patch over the hole. I’m concerned, because it’s supposed to rain, or snow, tomorrow, and you know that we’ll have a lot more rain in the next few months.
\nSo, now, we have TWO spots to repair and paint. I’m telling you, don’t ever be kind to a raccoon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
I know that I’ve told you about the raccoons who had taken up residence in our attic.
