I could have said a collage, or a collection, but those words imply some relationship. My thoughts tonight are related only by the fact that they have all crossed my mind today.
\nRedEagle has arranged for me to have Site Meter for this blog, but I almost never visit. In my blog reading tonight, I came across the word “referrals” and it occurred to me to see how many people have come to visit in the past year and a half. Once I discovered that almost fourteen thousand have been here, I checked to see how they had found me. Some surf in from the Globe of Blogs, and others link through blog friends. I had to laugh when I discovered that someone had surfed MSN and linked to me through the word “moose.” See the entry called “Drat!” for an explanation. I laughed even harder when I discovered that I was the second listing for “making carmel topping,” based on my entry about cleaning out the refrigerator and finding 1999 carmel topping for ice cream tucked way back in a corner. \nIt seems that a number of us have lost our “Muse.”<\/a> (See “…getting on without the Muse.”) I wonder if it’s contagious? I’ve seen a number of excellent posts lately, but nothing that has given me more than a line or two of thought to share with you. I think I may have read the funniest entry ever over at “I Could Have Been A Contender<\/a>,” (The wisdom teeth story), and I’ve read about English bus riding<\/a> (I caught a train), and choosing burials v.s. cremation<\/a> (An Issue of Mortality). But so far the spark I need is missing. Maybe we need a topic a day, a la “One Word<\/a>,” to start us blogging. Or perhaps I need the diligence of committing to an entry a day no matter what the state of my mental larder.
\nWeather has been odd, here, and over the globe. We reached 62 degrees two days ago, and today it struggled to get to the teens. It was 2.5 degrees F. at seven this morning. A friend in Scotland sent me pictures of the damage done at a record high tide this week, and there are mudslides reshaping the hills in California, and waves are taking out beach towns. Have I commented that a Texas town had 11 inches of snow in early December, while the Chicago area had only had 5 and a little, and the Minneapolis area had less than half of that? The world is Topsy turvy. A friend believes that we may see the north and south pole reverse during our lifetime.
\nDid you hear me cussing out Ed, the cat? We had an appointment for his annual physical. His vet adores him, and he behaves well, for her! I had a busy day, and the appointment was for 5:15 in the afternoon. I finished preparing a meal for my mother, and turned in time to see the cat slip off the ottoman and RUN for my mother’s living room. I SWEAR he was laughing maniacally as he went. As I tried to sweep him out from under my mother’s couch, he must have slipped away at the opposite end, and found a new hiding spot. In disgust, I sat down, and pulled a quilt over my lap, thinking I could lure him out. At one minute before the appointment, which was a 20 minute drive away, he came to be petted. I’ve rescheduled for Monday, and I won’t be waiting for the last moment to gather the cat this time.
\nI’ve sent most of my Christmas thank you notes, I’m almost ready to mail a quilt off to be machine quilted, my youngest sis is coming Sunday night to help Mother with a window treatment, and Monday the painter is coming to do touch ups in two rooms. Exciting stuff, hmmm??
