I learned how to make “hospital corners” so that the upper sheet was tight and flat. While I can’t drop a quarter and have it bounce, as my sister the Navy Officer was taught to do, I do make a reasonably good looking bed.
\nThe problem is, the very first thing Dear Husband does when he greets this newly made bed is to rip the top sheet out from the mattress.<\/p>\n

\nThis was a bone of contention between us for some time. DH is a stomach sleeper. With the sheet secured so tightly over the end of the mattress, there was no place for him to slide his feet.
\nSo, I’d go to all this effort to make my bed the correct way, and then have him destroy one side of it. I got miffed, and stopped making the bed. Then, of course, I realized that it didn’t bother HIM at all that the bed was an unmade mess.
\nI resumed making the bed to satisfy my own needs. When I think we are likely to have visitors who might see our bedroom, I make the bed up correctly, tucking in HIS side just as tightly as I can. Otherwise, my side of the bed anchors the covers and is always neat.
\nThe advantage of this is that generally I get all the covers when I want them. Dear Husband still found a way to even up the odds. He’s a little vertically challenged. When he slithers down the bed so that he can hang his feet off then end, he takes the covers with. I find myself crammed into the bottom half of the bed, trying to keep warm some night.
\nI’m going to adapt a pair of suspenders to attach to the bedding so that the covers stay in place through out the night. *GRIN*
\nWhen I read this entry to him, he said…. “Staples.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Do you make your bed every day?
