Things wear out and things break. If you are not an innate do-it-yourselfer, then you are wise to begin collecting the phone numbers of those repairmen you can trust to do a businesslike job, and not scalp you in the process.<\/p>\n

\nLike all other homeowners, I tend to have a couple of things waiting for attention, and then a final straw pushes me into making the call. I have a GREAT appliance repairman. He’s been to visit to work on the washer and drier, on the ice cube maker and the dishwasher.
\nThis time, the door on the freezer in the garage needs immediate attention. I knew the seal was going. DH thought it was just a matter of a freezer that is overstuffed. You know how things get stuffed in, and then the door doesn’t close quite right? Well, DREAM ON, DH! I told you it was the seal!
\nSo, today, we’re fighting the water problem (see below), unloading the car and bringing in the groceries, and when I put some things in the freezer, I realized that the door wasn’t closing. The interior of the freezer had a fine film of frost over it. Since it’s a frost-free freezer, that was my first clue. I tried putting a bucket in front of the door as a temporary stopgap, and realized that what I really needed was a two-by-four to brace under the door handle.
\nHeck…..I’ll try the lock. Well…..the lock works. Or it did. I mean, the door to the freezer is LOCKED! Unfortunately, I can’t get it to unlock. DH tried his hand at it without luck, so I get to call my gorgeous 40-something appliance repairman. He’ll be here tomorrow, and I’m already drooling.
\nAnd before you suggest it, NO….I didn’t do anything to the door of the freezer. It gave up all on it’s very own. AND, we should be happy it did so when it’s below freezing outside, or we’d have a lot more to deal with than a little frost in the freezer.
\nWhile he’s here, I’m going to ask him if he can resolve the seal problem in the Insinkerator that lets the water out of the sink as I wash dishes.
\nAND, I need to have him take one more look at the swing arm on the dishwasher. That’s what he visited for last time, and we haven’t quite resolved that issue.
\nIf it’s not one thing, it’s another. At least I can feast my eyes on a hunk while I get this stuff fixed. I have this dreadful urge to pinch his butt while he’s down on the floor working on my appliances. It’s really too bad that he’s happily married and the father of teenagers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Every home owner learns that there are a plethora of repairs that have to be done if you wish to own a home.
