Have you ever thought about how we decide what a job is worth? To me, a buck a shirt at the cleaners is well worth not having to wash and iron shirts, and I’m at the stage in my life where I’d rather pay someone to wash the high windows and clean out the gutters.
\n“The Girls” on WGN were talking about how we set salaries. They felt that we should consider the following guidelines: If you love your job you get pennies to do it. If you have a dreadful job, you get $6,000,000 for it.<\/p>\n
\nFor instance:
\nJLo….nothing. Portapotty cleaners…6 mil.
\nBen Afflick …nothing.
\nGarbage truck drivers…6 mil.
\nDubya…nothing
\nCommercial fishermen…6 mil.
\nHillary…nothing
\ncleaning ladies..
\n6 mil.
\nANY corporate CEO …nothing
\nANYone who cares for a sick child…
\n6 mil.
\nAhhnold….nothing
\nANYone who puts the “fast” in food service, especially with a smile…6 mil.
\nI’m sure you have your own thoughts on who deserves their salary and who doesn’t.
\nI’ve been watching Star Trek First Contact, and Picard has to explain to the woman from earth that people no longer work for wages, that they all work toward the greater good.
\nI’ve always felt that line was horse hockey. I think every human being is competitive and most of us want more than we presently have. Even the wealthy feel that way.
