{"id":1955,"date":"2013-03-17T05:33:23","date_gmt":"2013-03-17T12:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/?p=1955"},"modified":"2013-03-17T05:33:23","modified_gmt":"2013-03-17T12:33:23","slug":"birds-and-things","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/birds-and-things\/","title":{"rendered":"Birds and things"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While I&#8217;ve had my nose to the grindstone, we&#8217;ve had some interesting things happening in the grove around us.\u00a0 I learned a few years ago that robins apparently stay in this area year round, but you couldn&#8217;t prove it by me.\u00a0 I&#8217;d never seen a robin in the winter until this year, and I saw and entire FLOCK of them at the beginning of March!\u00a0 I was in the great room, looking out the windows to where the sump pump discharges into a small pool.\u00a0 I shouted at Dear Husband, &#8220;There&#8217;s a robin&#8230;..wait, two, three, FOUR&#8230;FIVE&#8230;!!!\u00a0 There were more than five, taking turns getting a drink and bathing in the water!\u00a0 I was astonished, and so very pleased to have seen them.\u00a0 Apparently, our weather prior to the last two weeks or so was mild enough to bring them back to us.<\/p>\n<p>Then the weather closed in.\u00a0 We had heavy wet snow one day, and I was amazed to see sixteen male cardinals and their ladies waiting for their turns at the feeder.\u00a0 I was able to get a small portion of them in a picture from the kitchen window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Snow-Cardinals-2-Resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1956\" alt=\"Snow Cardinals 2 Resized\" src=\"http:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Snow-Cardinals-2-Resized.jpg\" width=\"418\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Snow-Cardinals-2-Resized.jpg 418w, https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Snow-Cardinals-2-Resized-250x300.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I noticed that the red-wing blackbirds have returned.\u00a0 They play relatively nicely with our winter birds below the feeders, but their relatives, the blackbirds and starlings, will be back soon, and then it will be a free for all!<\/p>\n<p>This morning, as I got ready to send my sister on her way to the last day of her conference, we heard a cardinal sing: birdie,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 birdie, birdie, BIR-DIE!!!\u00a0 One of the best things about living here has been all the birds that keep us company. *S*<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While I&#8217;ve had my nose to the grindstone, we&#8217;ve had some interesting things happening in the grove around us.\u00a0 I learned a few years ago that robins apparently stay in this area year round, but you couldn&#8217;t prove it by &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/birds-and-things\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1955"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1955"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1955\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1957,"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1955\/revisions\/1957"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1955"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1955"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.redeaglespirit.com\/arrrgh\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1955"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
