In the scheme of things, that’s not very old. But…..when your house reaches ten years, things need to be repaired and replaced. I have a list of things that need to be done and a husband who is NOT interested in doing them. That wouldn’t be a problem if he was satisfied with the work that others have been hired to do.<\/p>\n

\nI won’t repeat the entire litany of things that are aggravating me right now. The issue at hand is the garage doors. We have two garage doors, with remote opening systems. We have four remotes. All four of the remotes have died in the past week. If you are standing in the garage, they work. If you step out of the garage, they don’t. The hard wired control at the wall still works.
\nWe have changed batteries in the remotes without success. We assume that the remote receivers in both overhead units are malfunctioning. The brand is Allister, and that company is now known as Allstar. It seems they are still a well known brand, but these units are 14 years old, so we might have trouble finding the parts we need.
\nHere’s the problem. DH wants to buy a universal remote receiver to replace the unit that’s failing. I think we should contact a garage door repair service to have it done; HE thinks we should do it ourselves. I think we should let someone who knows what they are doing diagnose the problem and order the parts. HE thinks we should play with it on our own.
\nIs this a guy thing? What are the chances of us getting it right, and saving the expense of a professional?? I think they are slim to none. What do YOU think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Our house is 14 years old. In the scheme of things, that’s not very old.
