Pillowcases

Pillowcase for blog.JPG
This entry is for Cop Car, who shares a love of fabric with me. I’m sorry the picture lacks definition CC, because these are beautiful Batiks! The larger part of the case is made of a green fern print on a dark royal blue, and the “cuff” uses the same colors in a cross-hatch design. The quarter inch folded fabric between the two is a very pale green striped Batik.
They’d make beautiful gifts. I’m seriously considering making some for my family.

  1. Thank you, thank you, Buffy. The case is gorgeous–even lacking the eye-popping definition that you seek. And, as you had previously written, they look easy to make. Definitely a keeper of an idea!

  2. Thanks, CC! It’s even better in person. I washed out the colors a bit with the flash. I’d think you could whip these up in no time if you needed a gift. My-Sister-The-Nurse has her bedroom done in deeper blues, and Nan has a Tuscan look going throughout the house. It would be a joy to shop for materials for cases for them!
I found a pattern on-line. If you need a website address, let me know.

  3. now those are beautiful colours buffy, i particularly like the blue with the fern.

  4. Ummmm…inept I may be, Buffy; but, the cases seem like simplicity itself. I cannot imagine requiring a pattern. We shall see if you get the last laugh! *smile* BTW: Every time I see the word “Batik”, I think of you–such as the other day when the word was used about a painting, or some such (who recalls?)

  5. Bod, I’ve been pushing my house more toward green with highlights from the rose family, but when I saw this fabric, I had to have it! My bedroom has a lot of green in it, and I haven’t introduced the rose accents yet, so this fabric works with what’s there. The pillowcases are very crisp to the touch; they have a lot of threads to the inch.

  6. Cop Car, they are simple, but it was nice to have suggestions for the length and width. I know, I could have just measured the pillows or other pillowcases, but the pattern gave me the depth of the cuff.
When *I* hear the word Batik, I now think of it capitolized, thanks to you! *G*
