Day Three

Mother has been off in balmy Key West for three days now. I can’t believe how much sound EM contributes to this house when she is here!
I was out running errands today, and stopped at one of my favorite stores, Trader Joe’s. I usually limit my shopping there to special occasions because the temptation is to purchase things that don’t fit into a diet.
I was trying to come up with something for a simple but classy meal for DH and myself. I picked up the roasted red pepper tomato soup, a wedge of Gouda, a small package of spinach hors de oeuvres, a chicken and veggie stir fry, a package of cashews, and two bottles of Two Buck Chuck.
Dear Husband expected to be late this evening, so I held off starting dinner. Thirty minutes before I expected him, I heated the appetizers, put the soup on low, tossed a salad, and opened the wine to let it breathe.
Of course, he called, and said he was going to be about 45 minutes later than he had expected. I had my soup while I waited for him, and then reheated everything when he was ready for dinner. We ended up skipping the stir fry, and just had soup and salad.
We’re getting easy in our old age….

  1. Key West! Got to nice and worm. Bet she had a good time. Are youposting from the livingroom now? We have two also. My granddaughter has one in her room but no excess to the net. Syay worm girl. Have a good weekend!

  2. I was wonderful, Cop Car and QT. It wasn’t what I expected, but very nice. Today I made the bird seed run, and then DH and I went for lunch at my favorite Cajun place. THen we stopped at the Container Store, and I picked up plastic boxes for basement storage. We snoozed a bit, and I think we’ll round the evening out with a movie. Nice day in all.

  3. Hey, Joe! Yeah….I’m posting from the living room now. It’s nice not to be squirreled away in the office all day long, and then part of the evening too. And, it’s nice to be closer to DH.
I think you’re smart to limit your granddaughter’s access to the Net for now. When she’s accustomed to doing things your way, you can talk about a little more freedom. The Internet can be a very dangerous place for kids, and you need to be sure she understands safe computer use.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. …two buck chuck??…
…please tell me this is the wine :^)…it costs two dollars and you just throw it down your neck :^)…

  5. (proudly showing you) See?! Corks!
Yeah….for a couple of bucks a bottle, it’s not bad wine. Come visit and we can send some cases of it home with you! *G* Keep that corkscrew handy!

  6. Billy–How much spirits are you allowed to take home with you from the states for personal use? I think that we are allowed to bring home three gallons; but, as one who’s never had to worry about it my number is probably wrong.

  7. …three gallons :^)…I know that an american gallon is less than an ingerlish one – but three gallons :^)…
…we’re allowed two litres of spirits…wine and beer we’re allowed more than you can actually get in your weight allowance…

  8. Too bad they are so darned stingy with the export limits! Maybe you need to buy up a vineyard, billy. Just think what you could have in the name of testing the tuns!
