On A Rock In Rural Iowa

I was reading my mail before getting the day started today, and came across a message from a friend, telling me to go to this site. An artist in Iowa has created a memorial to our military that you might like to see.

  1. Actually, my younger brother, RAY SORENSEN II, painted the rock a mile south of I-80 off of the Greenfield Exit in Iowa. This is actually the fifth year that he has painted a tribute to the veterans for Memorial Day. He started painting the tribute when he was 19 years old and in college at Iowa State University. We are so proud of him and hope that it inspires patriotism in everyone that sees it! 🙂

  2. Your pictures of the Rock were fantastic, truely
inspirational and high in quality. The only
problem (in my opinion) is the location was not
listed or shown with the photos. We had to find
this page in order to find the location. Up here
in Minnesota it aroused our curosity and when we
contacted people from Iowa they had never heard
of it. We can now inform our friends to its lo-
    cation.
    Thanks

  3. A friend e-mailed me the pictures and they were beautiful. It is really nice that you as a young man would take the time to paint such pretty things for us to enjoy.
    Thank You—–Shirley Ford

  4. i am from ames iowa and i went to iowa state. i am so pleased to see that someone that age has the ability to make something so incrediably beautiful and emotional. i was used to the college frat guys. rock on isu.

  5. My hat is off to someone who actually did something to express what we feel in our hearts. A perfect tribute! Thank you for telling the world though art what it means to “us”. My first reaction was that this should be moved to a more prominent place – but upon reflection – I think is it perfect just where it is – in the heartland. Thank you RAY SORENSEN II – and thank you Veterans!

  6. My daughter is with the Iowa National Guard stationed in Mosuel, Iraq..I am sending the pictures on to her, they will all be so proud to know they have someone back home that has painted this tribute to all veterans..Thank You so much..You should be so proud..Keep up the good work..God Bless

  10. I grew up in Iowa and moved to just outside Houston back in ’87. Seeing the photos reminds me of how THE HEARTLAND really is the best place to grow up. The family of the Midwest is strong, patriotic and knows what the meaning of PRIDE really is. I am proud to be known as a “Yankee” and always will be an “IOWAN” especially when I see and show these photos to people I know down here. “Bubba”… you really are a talented man…and you show your true patriotism for the work explodes on the screen and stays in our hearts.
GOD BLESS YOU AND I HOPE EVERYONE THAT SEES YOUR WONDERFUL WORK WOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION WHAT IS BEHIND IT — NOT ONLY WHAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT TO VISIBLE PICTURES BUT THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES AND TIME TO PROVIDE THE FREEDOM THAT THEY HAVE LAID OUT FOR US TO RECEIVE WITHOUT ASKING FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN!!!!
FROM YOUR FAN IN TEXAS BUT ALWAYS FROM IOWA IN MY HEART KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
