It’s spring, it’s spring! (doing the happy dance) It’s SPRING!!
I have crocus in bloom, and the daffodils have pushed up through the mulch. I moved two pots of tulips (I waited too long to get them into the ground last fall) out to the sidewalk. I discovered that the rhubarb is coming up, too. I waited too long to plant that, too, and had to pot it up. I hope to find the perfect spot for it this spring and create a spot where it will be happy for many years to come.
I’ve seen iris and day lilies and tulips sending up new leaves, the chives are greening up, and the magnolia outside my office window has flower buds that are swelling, a sure sign that warmer weather is coming.
Just as the trees turning color in the fall makes me want to ready my nest for winter, seeing the first of the leaves pushing their way out of the ground makes me want to rejuvenate my surroundings. Spring cleaning can’t be far off, and repairs that have been waiting are getting closer to getting done.
YEA, SPRING!!!
Hi Buffy. No physical signs of spring here yet. Nothing peeping through the snow but still I did a happy spring dance as well yesterday when I saw my Dough-Gee Dog repeatedly doing his roll and splay in the driveway. Then a nap in the sun with all four feet in the air. And I saw the horses in the pasture next door doing a happy spring romp.
It was enough for me to happily join you in glad spring tidings. This winter has been way too long, way too sobering, way too cold, etc. etc.
Roberta
Oh sure, just rub it in why don’t you? I’m hoping to see bare ground (besides the ever-widening pathways) sometime in July. Alright, I exaggerate a bit, but it seems like it will be forever!
Oh, Ladies! I didn’t mean to rub it in! I was just so pleased to see the first signs of Spring here that I had to share them. I hope warmer weather is on its way to you as we speak.
Roberta, my old cat has been braving the cooler weather to get out and see if the chipmunks are awake. (They are.) He’s eager for the chase, and a fresh meal!
Boy! It seems to me that with each passing year, not only does time fly faster, but winters get shorter. Our redbud trees are fully three weeks ahead of schedule, this year. I can’t recall the last year that they waited until their accustomed time.
Our daffodils are in bloom, but the tulips are just a few inches high. The stinky ornamental pear trees have been in bloom for about 10 days, now.
I’m happy for you, Buffy; but, I could put off having to do yard work for a few more months!
Cop Car, it always amazes me how much earlier things bloom in your neck of the woods. I’d be delighted to see the birds returning and things blooming earlier than they do here, but I have to agree with you that the yard work season seems to get longer each year.
Take care of your back and knees, and remember to wear your sun screen!
Thanks for the reminders, Buffy. How can you embarrass me in front of Bogie, so? I’ve been telling her, for the last 47 years, that I am a fully functional adult. *grinning*
We could use some rain. Why not send some our way?
Ooops…..I suppose that I could have sent that in a private message…*G*
Oh well, everyone who reads here: that reminder applies to YOU! Attending to our health so that we can go the distance in our gardening season, and being sure to protect our skin is universal advice.
Rain?? It’s been pretty dry recently, but I think we may catch it today. I have been so absorbed with EM’s care that I haven’t had the chance to look at the long-range forecasts. If we get extra, I’ll ask Superman to help send it your way. *G*
